Can't Get Enough of Kundera
This book was delivered quickly. The copy I got was a red paperback so beware in case you're expecting the white covered one.The book is short. This is my 8th Kundera novel, so I know how his writing is and in the first ten pages I felt a little uninterested because the themes were familiar as in I'd seen them in other works of his. Nonetheless I kept on and this book made me remember why I love Kundera. The ending had me phoning my boyfriend with excitement. I can't get enough of the prose and the way he never needs to describe physical attributes of a character, everything revolves around actions and thoughts. Kundera is brilliant. Don't hesitate to buy this novel. I found this better than the festival of insignificance and Slowness. If you like this novel, get Laughable Loves next!

... a deeply intellectual and philosophical book but if you like this sort of thing
It's not everybody's cup of tea as it's a deeply intellectual and philosophical book but if you like this sort of thing, then it's a little gem with a clever twist in the end that you don't see coming.

In search of an illusion
Milan Kundera had already toyed with the idea of dreams coming into the realm of the real and the other way around (an idea that still makes us wonder). In "Identity" Kundera takes this to an extreme by analysing the life of a couple with certain disparities (age, social status, aspirations); by focusing on the male character the writer can develop the idea of identity not being a fixed entity far from change. In my opinion, the immigrant writer problematizes the concept in quite an original way, for (as in most of Kundera's stories) the male character and the female one offer the reader an integral perspective.Another profound reflection, hotbed of more ideas to any reader, and so, one of the subtlest books by Kundera.
