I am a 55 year old man who tried this product after much research and deliberation. I chose Swanson brand because they have been in the market a very long time and have a great reputation for quality. I will admit I was prepared for the possibility that I would be one for whom the benefits were minimal, but my BPH symptoms had gotten to the point that I needed to try something. I should also mention that I wasn't eager to go on a prescription medication regimen for this problem primarily because of well-documented side effects.Within a week of beginning to take Swanson Beta-Sitosterol I noticed significantly improved urine flow, much less urgency and much more complete bladder emptying. I felt better than I had in years. It would be difficult to quantify, but the improvement was remarkable. Additionally, I haven't experienced any side effects - apparently there aren't any. I like the product's moderate price as well! I highly recommend trying this product for relief of BPH symptoms.

I have purchased this product a number of times. I had been getting it direct from Swanson, but the last time, even though I have purchased from Swanson's for years, they delivered it to a place I refer to as the "Twinkie Zone" :) ( a take off on the old Twilight Zone TV show---meaning I never got the bloody thing!). I did finally receive the item 2 weeks later after 2 phone calls. This time, I ordered from Amazon, but then learned they only send it to Swanson ! But I did receive it.I hesitate to give 5 stars to any product which is ingested, as the effects often vary from person to person. This may not have any bearing on the product since the human body varies from person to person. In addition, the actual mechanism of such things is still not completely understood.However, I can say about this product: I am in my late 60s, semi-retired, and for the first time I noticed a problem in my urinary tract. For ± 15 minutes after elimination of urine, I noticed my underwear was slightly damp. However, after taking this product for 2 weeks, most of that effect has stopped (about 85%). I have been to my doctor and my prostrate is normal. Because I am one of the longest surviving renal transplants (42 years July 2015) in good health (except for arthritis from the prednisone), both the doctors and myself are reluctant to add medications unless necessary.In summary, I would advise the reader NOT to purchase that item so heavily advertised as "FREE" on TV. It is also Beta Sitosterol. However, what they do not say is that once they have your credit card number, they will continue to send their product to you at full price and according to several reviews I have read, contacting them via customer service is very difficult.I trust Swanson and Amazon, both of which I have used extensively for over 15 years ( Amazon sold it's first item in 1995). Let me also add that this product is many times more effect than other methods such as the Saw Palmetto.Lastly, I am always pleased to offer my humble but honest opinion. I was intending to use beta sitosterol for hair growth. read it was supposed to be a powerful dht blocker. Been taking 1 pill a day for a week. Too soon to see if there will be a positive effect on hair but one thing that I noticed almost immediately was that the pain that I have in my knees and elbows from heavy weight training over the years was greatly diminished. I work out 4 or 5 days a week and since i've been taking this product I can actually lift heavier weights without the usual aches in joints. I read up on beta sit. and it is used as an anti inflammatory. For me works MUCH better than glucosamine,chondroitin msm products that I use heavily. Great product and Great price from Swanson!! Yes, I believe this product is legit and contains the compound it claims. However, I encourage any men who are seeking an "easy remedy" to lower their PSA to first get checked out by a Urologist, NOT your family or general practitioner... my PCP kept telling me I've got nothing to worry about when my PSA crept up 1 point each year until it was over the 4.0 alarm mark, but even then he assured me I have nothing to worry about. It was a couple months later that a coworker confided in me about his Prostate cancer and I told him I'm "monitoring my PSA" as my PCP advised. My coworker insisted I make an appt with a Urolgist and I'm glad I did because after another test and biopsy we discovered I had stage III aggressive Gleason 9 prostate cancer. I'm sure my circumstances are rare, however I encourage men seeking an "easy fix" using any of these products to first get thoroughly checked out by a qualified Urologist. I've tried a variety of products for my enlarged prostate (BPH), some costing up to $50 a month. I also tried the prescription Floxmax, and rapid flow products (alpha blockers), $300 a month, which had negative side effects.This product started working within about three days, and greatly reduced my symptoms. I still get up once a night, but urinary flow has much improved, and is far less painful. It's easier to start and stop. Overall, this really made a difference. Best part is it's one of the cheapest products out there. I will be ordering again. Recommended.Btw, I will add I did not have the same results using the 320mg version with Saw Palmetto. Logic says it should work even better, but was not the case for me. I switched twice now, and came back to this formula.
