Super Comfortable, Lightweight, Thin & Warm
At about 47 grams (1.7 oz.) the weight is perfect for lightweight traveling. Also rolls, bunches up or lies perfectly flat for compact packing. I love the super soft interior lining (60% wool/40% Lyocell) which prevents scratchiness and allows breathability. The 100% wool exterior is super soft and super thin which combined with the lining makes for a cozy super comfortable cap. I love the extended back and sides which cover the ears for fridgid mornings or in gusty winds. Can also be lifted up to sort of a “Robinhood” type look or neatly rolled, remaining nice and snug against the head, which looks cool with the exposed interior color lining. It is very thin and therfore a bit flimsy but keeps you warm enough. Because it’s so thin would also make a great underlayer for expedition type gear. Quality is unsurpassed as always from IceBreaker. Replaces an old similar style Patagonia but I already love this so much more!

This is a Three-fer for me !
One: I wear it alone, nice lightweight warmth. Two: I wear it as an additional liner under my jacket's hoodThree: It's low weight bulk allows it to fit under my L/XL Arcteryx Wool baseball hat.So versatile and it covers my ears.Kind of Spendy but to me so well worth it !

Color different & bad fit
I ordered the Black/Clove, which on my screen appeared to be a salmon color. What I received was closer to goldenrod. I’m not sure what the issue is there, as I have never encountered such a color mismatch on my Amazon buys.Color aside, I bought this for the assumed fit that another reviewer left regarding folding up the ear flaps to achieve a Robin Hood look. Unfortunately, it’s just weird. The hat doesn’t come down far enough to feel secure on my head with the ear flaps folded up, and the flaps don’t stay up well on their own. Pinning them might work. Otherwise they look like floppy dog ears.If the design was made to be a bit more slouchy, and not skull-tight, I’d like that. And if the beanie portion itself was able to be pulled over my ears on its own, with the addition of firmer ear flaps, I’d like that too. The giant embroidered logo needs to go, too. I get the boon of walking marketing, but I prefer to wear decent products without feeling like a billboard. All that said, it’s a double layer merino wool cap. It fits tight to keep your noggin warm, probably. I don’t know because I couldn’t stand looking at myself with it on long enough to find out.

ear flap stands up
Just received the beanie today, material is good, comfortable to wear. However, one side of the ear flaps does not cover the ear, it is always stand up, I can even press it down. Maybe just my bad luck getting the one with bad quality, returning it!
