Great for a digestive aid but not as a face mask.
I use this occasionally (once a month or so) as a digestive aid. I put three tablespoons in a large glass of water, and down it. I had capsules but taking a few did almost nothing. I broke them open and realized there was very little charcoal in the capsules themselves (some had almost none!) so I decided to switch to powder form. This is the only brand I've tried so I can't compare to others. It helps with what I'm guessing is SBIO symptoms and has helped me reintroduce dairy into my diet without the GI problems it was causing before. I *think* what the charcoal does is adsorb (yes, aDsorb - not aBsorb) organic toxins in the intestinal tract which may include endotoxin produced by bacteria, and may even help remove the bacteria itself. Whatever it's doing, I feel better. Less bloated, generally less inflamed, and like digestion is smoother. If you're into probiotics you may want to up your dose after a charcoal treatment b/c the charcoal doesn't discriminate and will probably remove a lot of your "good" bacteria as well as the "bad" bacteria. There are claims on some websites saying this stuff won't constipate you if you're not already constipated. My n=1 personal experience is that those claims are 100% false. I recommend taking magnesium, or cascara tea for the next few days after you drink a glass of charcoal to keep things moving.I brush my teeth after I drink a glass b/c it leaves my mouth black. The residue left in my mouth actually helps clean my teeth better and whiten them a bit. I'll also occasionally dip a toothbrush in the powder like you would with baking soda. Works just as well, and doesn't taste metallic/salty like baking soda.I read you can use this for a face mask when mixed with aloe and water, so I tried it. It did exfoliate a little b/c it's a bit gritty, but did not purify my face, shrink pores, extract pores, or anything else the internet claims. Once it dried it flaked off of my face badly, so I had a trail of black powder through my house. It trapped black grit in my pores which was incredibly difficult to get out (my Clairesonic would have helped but the battery was dead). Now, I do have some enlarged pores and shallow acne scars, so you may not have this problem if you have smoother skin. But, I still would not recommend this as a face mask. It didn't feel like it did anything that was worth the mess I created.I've also read that you can use this as eyeliner. I probably wouldn't recommend this either. When I used it as a face mask, it flaked off of my skin really badly, and it smears very easily. I would imagine it would do the same when used as an eyeliner. When used for what I believe is its intended purpose, this stuff is fantastic which is why I gave it 5 stars. When used "off label" so to speak, it's not always as good.

Awesome!
The powder is really easy to take, as I cannot swallow pills. It does well to help remove toxins from the gut. I discovered that it also helps to whiten my teeth! I take a spoonful in water just before bed. I leave it on my teeth all night, then brush as usual in the morning.

I hate hospitals
Highly recommended product for home use (That way you don't need to waste money at the hospital!! This is all they really give you that helps. Screw their deadly drug treatments!!)

For the First Aid Kit
For the first aid kit, I was told we ought to have some activated charcoal for our dogs, and our selves in our first aid kit. Have not had a need to use it, but I am glad that we do have it. It is something no longer carried in many pharmacies.
