Comparable to Fisher Space Pens, but...
This review is based on an orange version bought in mid-2017, and the number of stars assigned is mainly due to customer service. I have several Fisher space pens in different finishes, but this is my first Rite in the Rain. The Rite in the Rain is slightly longer when closed (~1/4 inch) but the same size as the Fisher when open and posted. The metal seems slightly thicker. The orange paint feels almost like a baked ceramic finish. I love the look and originally thought it would wear well; however, the paint has chipped off and continues to flake away where the friction of the pen cap rubs against the portion right beneath the rubber gasket when closed. This is a clear disadvantage compared to the Fishers’ finish. The paint flaking off alone is a deal-breaker and the reason my original rating from 2017 (four stars) has been lowered to one. There is also a rattle that has developed, which I’ve never had in my Fishers. I've found a lot of variation in how tightly the cap fits when closed among my Fishers, and I'd put this Rite in the Rain at medium to high tightness - started a little loose for my taste but has actually tightened over time. This could vary a little based on climate and season. The ink flow is slightly slower to start but less likely to bead up at the tip than my Fishers. Once writing the ink feels a little slicker than my other space pens and therefore writes a little smoother.UPDATE: Contacted Rite in the Rain about the issues I was having, and they were receptive, said they were having issues with this particular type of pen, and they offered a replacement with one of their other variations. Gave them my info, but at first never received the replacement. Reached out a couple more times again and eventually received their orange full-sized clicky pen as a replacement (thank you Rite in the Rain!). Clicky pen has a soft spring for my taste, but writes smooth and has barely any rattle in open or closed position. Seems like well-fitting parts and a great orange pen so far.

I love bullet pens
Even though this is rite in the rain branded, it's essentially a fisher space pen, which I love and I'm thankful to RITR that they made it in Orange! Still waiting for someone to make a yellow one!Pocketable.Doesn't Leak.reliable!Don't hesitate to buy!

It works as advertised, but it's inconvenient
First off, the pen works fine; I use it with my Rite In The Rain notepads and it does write in the rain and upside down, etc. The orange color is nice, makes it easy to spot. Closed, it's shorter than a normal pen so not so obtrusive in a pants pocket. But there's no pocket clip (falls out of shirt pocket when you bend over) and it's too fat to slide into the spiral binding of the notebooks; so you need to either carry it all the time or put it into a pants pocket.

My favorite pen of all time!
I can't stop writing with this pen! OMG I love it! It writes so smooth and I have literally written using the Indestructible Field Notebooks in Rain/Snow/Dust/Mud/Tractor Grease and this pen has never failed! Not to mention when it's cap is closed you its very small and perfect for any sized pocked. Ladies I'd say this is girl jeans approved and will stay put in your tiny jean pockets!
