Great started set
For less than £4 it's a great set for basic painting. So are a bit runny, some a bit thick. But mixes fine with water, the colours I have used have been very strong. For me and my 9 year old to play around with at this price, they are excellent.

Excellent
They only came today, I haven't used them yet. But they look good. Good sellection of shades too, so that shows they are a good buy, value for money. Ideal. I prefer Guoash. A good strong colour.

Repeated colours, no black
If you look closely, I received 4 repeated colours. There's no black. I don't know what other colours are missing because there is no list of colours on the pack except the small dot guidance. From that, I know there should be black paint in the set.Since I bought these to learn gouache, this will do, but I'm sure the brand could do better than this.

Good paints
Have gotten much use out of them, as a beginner i can't really compare to other gouache as I haven't used any, but they worked well, blended easily and they were a good opacity for what I wanted

Drab stuff.
Ah, good old Daler Rowney. The student's choice, not so much splurge, as save (and suffer). Perhaps I'm being moody and unfair? They're all average. The yellow ochre has split, spits out like venom.Mediocre, not as pigmented as desirable, easily diluted and washed out, you may as well use watercolours. Won't last you long, perhaps a few uses depending on how you're planning on using these paints. Certainly there's enough to paint a side of A4, perhaps. That's just an estimation naturally....These are laughable these small sets, they're akin to buying a speculative set. Buy, wait for them to arrive, give them an airing with a paintbrush because that's all they're good for before you'll need to buy a decent tube for any work you've in mind.Go for Windsor Newton, since they're the top brand with accountability (but indeed, pricey stuff for any decent work).Or try Pebeo, the latter is a surprise for me and fantastic value, but note their range is basic, so use them for basic white, primaries etc.Best I've tried: Turner gouache (comes in 20ml only) but it's FABULOUS stuff, creamy and thick and super pigmented.Heard good things about Sonya 'something' gouache, not quite 'artist' gouache, but, gouache for home and crafts or something. It's all rather vague, but she makes paints in big, big tubes.

I think I love these!
Another artist suggested I try gouache so I ordered these. The first set didn't turn up and the seller then accidentally sent me oils but refunded the postage cost of returning them and promptly sent out the correct item. I just finished my first gouache painting and I really like this medium-I normally use acrylics and they are similar in that you can paint light over dark but I like that if you add more water to the page it lifts the paint like watercolour. Still g a lot to earn but so far so good and would buy from this seller again.
