Safety 1st Furniture Wall Straps (6 pack)

i have an almost 3 year old boy who loves nothing more than to give me heart attacks. he tipped his dresser over one day after pulling out all of the drawers and climbing it. its a VERY sturdy high quality dresser, and quite heavy. my husband had previously tested it with his full weight and did not think it would tip. so we didnt secure it. well......when i heard the THUD and tears, and ran into his room during naptime....i found him laying on the floor with the dresser hovering over him with only a small cut above his eye.if he had not opened the bottom drawer, which braced the full weight of the dresser and luckily did not snap or slam closed, i could have walked in on a very very different scene. i took this as my VERY lucky warning shot, snuggled my little man, and vowed to fix this hazard right away. i ordered these straps, they came VERY quickly, and my husband installed them. he had no problems, the directions are very easy. based on other reviews, we bought higher quality screws just to be on the safe side. the dresser is very secure now, and i am grateful i had the opportunity to do something to keep my wee man safe.if you are hesitating about whether or not tethering your furniture is necessary, dont. tether it. because i know i would never have forgiven myself if my child was severely injured or killed by something so easily prevented. learn from our close call.

Easy to install and seems like a good-quality product despite the fact that the outer brackets are plastic (at least the middle hinge is metal).4 stars because I didn't know until I saw the packaging that they recommend using at least two straps for each piece of furniture. This should be included in the product description.Also please note that you should be inserting the screws into wall studs, if possible, which have been pre-drilled with a pilot hole. If wall studs are not available, you should be using wall anchors if screwing into drywall.

We purchased these because my son's dresser fell in his room. Thankfully he was not under it. His was a very heavy dresser so would have never thought it would tip. The reason it fell was because he had opened all of the drawers on it at once. The weight of all the drawers filled with clothes made it tip over. My son is 5 years old so he jumped out of the way. He was looking for something so just kept opening the drawers. I always thought these straps were for people that didn't watch their kids or let their kids climb on furniture. I would have never thought his dresser would tip over but it makes sense I guess with him having all those drawers open and once plus the weight of his clothes. Always be ready for the unexpected!

My little boy is a climber and I knew once we transitioned him out of his crib I would need to scure his dresser and shelf. I wasn't sure how the strap concept would work but I was plesantly surprize as it works prefect. I like that I can easily adjust the stap to move the dresser away from the wall if needed. Installation was simple and I didn't find any issue with the screws that was mentioned in other reviews. I do suggest to pre-drill holes to help the drilling of the screws go a little easier. I would buy these again and recommended them to other parents.

We have a few large pieces of furniture and when we had kids I decided to childproof the house, I bought a few packs of these. I didn't think my daughter would be able to turn any of the furniture over, but I went ahead and installed them anyway. One day my daughter did manage to almost turn one of the pieces over, but the strap held and stayed secured to the wall. Had I not installed these, we were probably going to the emergency room.

These are really easy to install. Once you find the studs in the wall, it takes about 5 minutes or less to screw them into the wall and the piece of furniture. What's nice is that you can separate the wall piece and the furniture piece and screw them in separately and then later link them. This makes it easier to mount the furniture straps without having to wedge in between the wall and the furniture.

These straps do hold up furniture and help me feel better. I used one pair for a bookshelf with a "cardboard" back I had to install this on the top, which the particular design doesn't support very well because of the way it's angled (I had to tie a knot in the strap). Furthermore, perhaps due to the configuration, they have a lot of slack, so if there items that could fall off the furniture, e.g. books on said bookshelf or a lamp on top of a dresser, a child could still get dangerously dumped on (but better than getting crushed by the whole furniture).

These are much stronger than the wall straps that come included with most "assembly required" furniture. My only complaint is that they are only available in white which stands out from the wall on objects like open shelf bookcases. If they were offered in a darker color they would not stand out as much on my painted accent walls; although, they would still be noticeable.
