Camera is to zoomed in
Allover I'm satisfied with this purchase, we are using it since 5 months and it works well, however the parent unit battery life is less long than on the beginning.BUT, only big problem: this camera has a very zoomed in picture, so we had to mount it very far from the crib to at least see SOMETHING. They need to work on this quality.

New Model - Less Functionality and Terrible Camera Quality
My wife and I purchased an Angelcare AC517 in 2019 for our first child. Wonderful unit. Worked great and used it solidly for 2+ years. After having our second child, we noticed the first AC517 unit having reduced connectivity, and figured it was due to age and some accidental drops. We decided to purchase the AC527 unit. To keep this short for those who want the details - I'll skip any more stories about our use of it. The main thing to note here is Angelcare removed functionality and provides a worse experience with the "NEW" AC527 compared to the old AC517 model. It's very disappointing. We are returning this to Amazon after trying it for 2 days. Here's a list of things that changed on this "NEW" model in order of most frustrating to least:- Camera Quality is terrible - both in infrared and normal camera mode: I don't know what they did here. The AC517 was a decent camera sensor. This new AC527 the quality is so bad, my wife was laughing at how our child looked like a featureless potato on it. Bad. Very bad.- Removal of Temperature and Pad Event tracking: AC517 would track for at least a week (maybe more) every 20 minutes the temperature and if the pad had gone off - along with a high and low temperature alert - the AC527 only has the alerts - no tracking. This was a nice feature especially if you're trying to fine tune how your child's room feels in the night- Constant Blinking TIC Light: Old unit always had an AC Power green light on when the unit was on - AC527 has this same light PLUS a TIC motion sensor light, that has no way to turn it off. It blinks every second constantly through the night - if you're sensitive to light in your room, that's a problem- Parent Unit touch screen controls are poorly laid out: Not a big deal, but the user interface feels clunky and cheap compared to the old AC517- Battery Charging Symbol on Screen stays on after full charge: Old AC517 would show a blue screen and a battery icon when it was plugged in charging. Once fully charged the screen would turn off. AC527 has a battery symbol that sits, not moving, in the middle of the LCD screen once charged - Nothing like having that image burned into the screen - if the camera quality wasn't bad enough, imagine eventually having to compete with a white battery image burned in when trying to look at your child.Again - worst thing here is the camera quality. I could have lived with the battery charging symbol and possibly the flashing light. The temperature tracking was nice - not gonna lie there. But the camera quality was terrible. Imagine a flip phone camera image from 2009, that was zoomed in. Yep. Very unfortunate as I think the AC517 unit was great. Now we're going back to that unit and dealing with the random issues we have as it's hard for us to trust the new Angelcare products are actual improvements on their previous models - not just a cash grab while buying cheaper components to sell to consumers at the same price point.

Always recommend this to parents.
Good piece of mind knowing your child is being monitored for apnea without having to attach anything to them. While there are occssional false alarms if your baby moves, it has alerted us to an apnea spell while sick. We were able to suction her nose and didnt have any more issues, but always thankful that we had this product.

Good monitor but the pad is meh
Great product no complaints other than the monitor pad is just ok, we found that because it’s about a half inch thick that it raises the bed to much and my daughter doesn’t sleep very well on it, we ended up buying the owlet sock after trying to make this work for a couple months. It did get us by but in the end the owlet sock was the better choice. We also didn’t like that the pause button on the camera. When you pick up the baby in the middle of the night you have to hit the pause button because if you don’t the pad won’t sense the baby there and will trigger the loud alarm to go off, the button to pause it is small and hard to press in the dark without ending up pushing the camera off the night stand and making a bunch of noise, then the alarm goes off as I’m fumbling for it on the floor in the dark and it wakes my wife up, when the whole purpose of me taking one feeding in the night is so my wife can get a decent stretch of sleep but the alarm wakes her up. So that is frustrating

Miss the old version
When I had my first 2 children I LOVED my Angelcare monitor. It was the corded version without the video but it was great. This version is marginal. I agree with previous reviews that it is overpriced for the quality of monitor. Below I have some pros and cons.Pros:1: video is nice to see your baby (although this feature is available with many other monitor brands)2: temperature is visible with the parent control (was also available on my old Angelcare monitor)3: motion detector is a great piece of mind4: closed circuit system so no need for WiFi or anyone “tapping” into the camera feed.Cons:1: parent control is not a good touch screen. You have to hold your finger on the spot for awhile for any button to react on the screen.2: you can only deactivate the motion sensor from the parent controller. The old monitor you could deactivate the motion sensor from the nursery unit (much easier)3: Sound quality is terrible. I have the volume all the way up and it’s hard to hear.4: The monitor also only turns on the sound of it hears something (I’m assuming to remove any white static noise). I hate this. I’d rather hear everything then miss a sound.5: camera mounting. The camera has a magnetic back which allows for ease of repositioning but this also creates havoc when your turning it on and off and you end up moving the camera constantly.6: Battery on the crib motion sensor. I hate that it’s on the top of the sensor and I don’t like the thought of my baby laying on a battery (even though it’s under 6+ inches of the mattress). You also need to replace the battery every 3-4 months according to the instructions.Overall I’m disappointed with the changes to this monitor. I’m truly only keeping it because of the motion sensor and will most likely purchase another type of monitor when my baby is a little bit older. I really tried to love this product and give it a chance but unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectations. At this time moms and dads, I would NOT recommend this product. Happy shopping!
