Another tool in the arsenal for leak checking
And I like it for my auto and off-road equipment A/C work. I use it with a 40 cu. ft. tank and an Inficon Whisper to find suspected leaks or just confirmation after a repair by pressure testing. Recently had a Freightliner H-D truck that needed an expansion valve and new oil due to color. They are known to leak at the condensor after some years of service. Pumped it up with 150-175psi of pressure and it held rock steady so it was then ready for the charge.A 60oz. capacity Ford Econoline also came through needing a pipe fitting seal replaced to the rear unit which was leaking and low on refrigerant. After repairing I pulled a vacuum for four hours and five pump oil changes with the gas ballast open and was still pulling moisture out. Pulled out the nitrogen kit and did a low pressure sweep for fifteen minutes flushed the old oil out replaced accumulator and oil and down the road cold as ice.One will want to lubricate the hose gaskets with mineral (vacuum pump) oil, the hand wheel on the manifold was a little funky feeling but a drop of oil in there took care of that. A nice unexpected addition in the box was the R1234yf high side coupler included.
