STANLEY Heavy Duty Staple Gun/Brad Nailer, 0-TR250

Good tool for DIY gardening project
I purchased this stapler to tack up weed barrier cloth inside above ground planters made from wood pallets. I was hesitant to purchase based upon some of the negative reviews, but since this tool was within my budget and some of the others were not, I took a chance. I also purchased a recommended staple assortment that fits the TR150HL.I unboxed it and read the simple directions for loading the staples. Several sizes of staples (depth) can be used with this gun, and I chose a relatively small size for my job. Loading was simple and the staples locked into place with ease. There's a lever that allows for increasing the punching power of this tool, but that also increases the resistance when squeezing it to deploy the staples. Being a woman with a relatively strong grip, I still preferred the lower setting for prolonged use.I had no problem tacking up the weed barrier into place inside the planter boxes, no tacking 1" chicken wire on the bottom of the boxes (to keep out critters) to the pallet wood. There were occasional misfires where no staple came out, but that was only about 5% of the time. The build quality of this stapler is OK, but not 'heavy duty' in my opinion. It's mainly made of plastic, but if used correctly and with care, it should be up to most DIYer tasks and home projects. I wouldn't recommend it to those who plan on using it regularly on the job though.I will update this review if the item breaks, but suffice to say for now I like it. It does what I expected it to do for a budget price.

Get a better one if you can afford it. Updated Review!
After reading all the mixed reviews I was a bit skeptical about this. Well, it arrived today and I set right out to use it. Worked great, right from the package. Much easier to use than traditional staplers of this class. I had two Heavy Duty Staplers and both were difficult to load, hard to squeeze and basically, I hated. When both broke, I decided to look for something that would potentially be easier. As a woman with small hands, but not wanting to invest in an electric staple gun or one that operates of a compressor (though that would be nice however, I do not own a compressor!) I needed something that would work for a minimum investment. This did the trick! I needed to winterize my chicken pen and used this to staple the plastic around it. No problems, easy to use, hands never got tired with what I had to do. So glad I bought this and if you are looking for a decent heavy duty stapler that is an economical purchase and actually works, then this is a good investment. Will it last a year or more? I have no idea..some on here have complained. I found it to be made well, seems durable. My last cheepo ones lasted me years...I have no reason to think this won't.UPDATE DECEMBER 4 2016 Only had this as you can see for a very short time. It has broken just like others have said. We made it through about 3 rows of staples and it just quit working. So very disappointed. I ordered a replacement (this will be free because I have only had it a short time so I'm within the return window). Hubs wants to give it another chance...I'm skeptical. Anyway, if you don't plan on using it much you will still find it very easy to use but if you can afford a better quality, I would urge you to get it. I have lowered my stars accordingly. When the new one comes in I will use it and update again how it performs.

Great
Couldn't expect anything better. I love Stanley products and this one doesn't disappoint. I'm probably 300 staples in, still works great.

Works Well, But Does Require a Good Amount of Hand Strength
We needed an inexpensive heavy duty staple gun that would be able to do some small tasks with temporarily securing some fabric to wood (floor joists in our basement ceiling). While this performed the job just fine- (we used 1/2" staples for our project) -it seemed to become increasingly difficult to push the stapler over time. My husband, who is very strong, noted this and said that it felt as if it were becoming increasingly resistant and requiring more pressure to push the staples through. I have fairly strong hand strength and while I was able to staple with this as well, and also found that it was a bit stubborn at times. We had no problems after going through 2 1/2 stacks/rows of staples with it jamming whatsoever. Overall, for the price, I do feel like we got our money's worth from this, just be (possibly) prepared for a little sweat equity if you have a lot of stapling to do into wood ;) Thanks for reading!

Its great for hanging things
I don't know if it'll go through wood but that's my next project. goes through drywall. But messes up sometimes.

I Would Recommend
I purchased the Stanley SharpShooter for a window seat cushion upholstery project. The goal was to attach upholstery fabric to plywood leaving the staples as flush to the wood as possible to prevent the staples from scratching the base of the window seat. The gun itself is easy to use. Average grip strength is all it takes. I would recommend pushing down on the top flat portion of the gun as you are pulling the trigger to drive the staples in. This will help keep it from bouncing away from the board resulting in a staple barely in the wood or not at all.As I said my goal was to make sure the staples we're flush with the wood; however, that was not the result with gun alone. I had to finish driving the rest of the staples into the wood with a hammer.I would recommend this stapler despite the need for an additional tool.

Not improved
Thought this stapler would be easier to use than my old toughy but it's just as hard to press.

Best Staple Gun Ever!
I almost never do reviews, but this time I felt compelled to let others know how much better this is than the competition.I need to replace my old staple gun. I tried Dewalt, and sent it back, then Arrow and sent that back. Both jammed repeatedly, misfired, and were generally the worst tools I ever owned. I tried the Stanley, and finally! This is easy to squeeze for starters. I ran a half a box of staples through it for an overhead job and never once did it jam or misfire, and the staples go all the way in flush. Finally a staple gun that works! Highly recommended.

Not a single staple included
It would have been great to have been able to use this product when it arrived. Just a couple of staples would have been really useful. Gun and staples ordered from Amazon at the same time. Staples still on their way so I can only look at the gun in frustration.Reached 60 recently. Beginning to moan about stuff I never used to moan about. LOL

Can work only with its own brand of staples which are 1mm narrower than the generic ones.
Standard generic staples do not fit. You need "Stanley Staples" for this which as an idea is an abomination as an idea. Older Stanley staplers had none of these issues.

Tech teacher suitably impressed by build quality and it also fires brad nails!
Best staple gun I've ever used - and I've used a fair few as a technology teacher.Easy to load. Easy to fire.Built-in upholstery prongs which swivel out of the way rather than detecting and getting lost.Massive advantage: also fires brad nails or veneer pins! Never seen this feature on a staple gun before. Basically works as a very light weight nail gun. Bought one for the Design Technology Department at school; was so impressed by quality I bought myself one for my own workshop.Thoroughly recommended to anyone who wants a decent quality staple gun (worth paying that bit more for this build quality) and anyone veneering or using brad nails, this is a very affordable way to mechanised and speed up what is potherwise a painstaking process by hand.

Good quality, works effortlessly.
Solid construction and works effortlessly.Decoding the instructions:-We used 8mm Stanley staples (not curved) with this (sold and dispatched by Amazon). Haven’t tried the 10mm staples yet that we’ve already bought for it, because we don’t want to take out a half portion from the cartridge.Loading takes a bit of a knack - press and slightly change the angle as you do before pulling, to release the cartridge easily.Ignore the little dial at the front left of the device with sizes (6mm, 10mm, 14mm shown next to it/below) if you’re using right angled staples (it’s for curved staples). The little black switch at the back of the staple gun and on the top (near your wrist) is for the depth you want the staple to go in to the surface if you’re using longer staples.

Heavy duty stapler
Was a little worried at first when I read some of the reviews but I had nothing to worry about, I bought it to staple a heavy duty fabric to a wooden board and it did it with ease I cannot recommend this stapler highly enough, I’m so glad I decided to go for this one over any of the other brands. 10/10
