This monitor is easy to setup. It involves plugging it in after assembling the plug and hooking in the included usb cable. The usb cable connects the camera to the plug. No computer is required, but instead you need a smartphone or tablet (either Android or Apple). From unboxing to installing the app and seeing video, it took me about 5 minutes.I did have one issue. WiFi configuration of the camera occurs withing the Philips InSight app. My smartphone was connect to my 5GHz Wifi, so the app tried to get the camera up and running on the 5Ghz network. It failed each time. Apparently this camera only supports the 2.4 Ghz frequency band. Once I switched my phone to my 2.4 GHz network, it connected quickly.I setup and tested this monitor in the same room that I was in at the time. There is a delay of 3 to 4 seconds between what happens in real life and what happens on the monitor.The app has an option upsell for $25/year for added benefits of 2 hour uninterrupted audio and video streaming live. That it cannot do this by default seems like an arbitrary business decision unless something has to traverse a Philips' network (and I'm not sure why it would need to). If the audio and video is riding on the cellular network, I should not have to pay Philips for it. You can also share the monitor with 10 people, and see a week of alerts history. You have unlimited viewing if your device and the camera are on the same WiFi network.Overall, I'd say tis is a pretty useful monitor. I like that it displays the temperature of the room and that the audio and video are clear. I have seen worse when it comes to baby monitors. This one has better quality and was easy to install.Update: After using this several nights, I am somewhat disappointed in the infrared video quality. It is hazy, almost as if I am looking through a foggy window.

I am exceptionally displeased with this device and kicking myself for not reading the reviews prior to purchasing.Set up not a problem. Video quality not a problem. Love the night vision but cannot connect remotely.Philips website is of no help at all. Phone customer service is nice to talk to a person but after every question they put you on hold for 3-4 minutes. Come back. Ask another question then on hold again.The only solution (no matter what the question) is to reset the camera. Did that x3 and it still didn't work. FYI every time you reset or unplug the camera you have to rename and reset your list of shared friends.They told me the reason why the camera doesn't work is because I can't have the cell service and wifi active at the same time because it causes a conflict. That is ridiculous! So I have to turn my phone off so I can't receive calls just to see the monitor? And it doesn't work through my phone service. BUT people on my friends sharing list can see the live stream video and hear everything going on.This has been a complete waste of money and I will be returning this ASAP!

This is a nice baby monitor – so much better than what parents had previously. A few positives: it comes with a shelf or wall mounting bracket, provides HD video and sound to your smart phone. It is well built with a quality finish. It is very intuitive and takes about 5 minutes to set up. You can “talk back” and the camera will put out your voice. You can see the video anywhere (i.e. there is no “range limit” like baby monitors used to have). The applications are many, and this can serve as a security camera, pet watching camera, or babysitter monitor as well. With my bandwidth, there is a 3-5 second lag, as some of the negative reviews point out; but I don’t understand why that should cause a negative review for the camera. The lag is caused by your internet bandwidth, not the camera or the app. Furthermore, frankly put, if you are far enough away from your baby that a 5 second lag is a problem how can you complain about the lag? You can’t get to your baby in 5 seconds anyway. If you are downstairs while your baby is upstairs, you are presumably doing something else, and not staring at the smartphone waiting for something to happen. Once you do discover a need to go upstairs it will take you at least 30 seconds to get there anyway. My one fear is that this device is so convenient, it will enable parents to actually leave the house … then if something does happen, the response time will be dangerously long. It makes being an irresponsible parent a little bit too easy – use it wisely.

Philips should be ashamed bring this product range to the market.... the iPhone software is slow, instable. But even worse the cameras are terrible. Out of the 5 ordered 2 came DOA (Dead on Arrival). And the other 3 stop working continiously. Contacting Philips give the only feedback that they do not provide service in the Dominican Republic.Lost a total of 800 dollars on this product including the shipment and taxes paid on it .... and just to return will cost me another 200 dollars .... Where the suppliers where i bought it simply shift their responsibilities to Philips.Main problem is that the cameras do loose their settings and a reset by unplugging and plugging in again is the only possible solution. Which is not so handy if you are abroad willing to monitor your place when not at home.

I was concerned about the reviews, but it works great for us. App is fast and runs great on ipad and iphone. I think you need to have a good internet speed and router for it to work. The Camera is better than the one we had from motorola. I would recommend it :)

Not great picture quality. Slow response time and delayed live / real time. Expected more from this monitor. Not satisfied. looking into another.

Funciona muy bien mi único pero es que va retratada la imagen por 10 a 15 segundos. Fuera de eso una maravilla
