They were 2" dry--then expanded to 3"+ when wet--also much softer!
Not sure whether I got unlucky, I will try once more, but both sponges were about 2 inches wide at the widest. Too small for the face.--UPDATE and UPGRADE: got my second one, and it actually occurred to me to wet them, because they seemed so bizarrely hard. I am from Greece and dry sponges don't look/feel like that! It probably has something to do with the "purifying" treatment they do in Germany. They are collected in Greece they say, but then treated in Germany.I am happy to say that when wet, they expand to the advertised size and are just as soft as the Greek sponges I am used to!

Soft smelly sponge
Love the softness. I clean my face with it every morning. Would recommend cleaning/ air drying when it starts smells.
