Loved it! Licks that you can actually use!
I have used a lot of jazz books but this one stands out as one of the best. First, I'm a fan of Oscar Peterson. We all know that Ulf played with Oscar. Second, the licks are actually useful. I feel like I swing better and have a better understanding of the jazz "feel". Some of the licks are challenging and hard to incorporate in other keys but isn't that the point, to be challenged? I loved it and continue to learn from it.

Oh! The tabs!
I am really digging this book . . . .it swings in a bluesy sort of way . . . .You get jazz . . .but the blues come through in each phrase when you play a line . . .Real cool stuff . . . .but what got me was how much I needed those tabs! . . .Man oh man, the tabs really saved me on reading each line . . .I thought I could read music, fairly well . . .but realized the tabs in the Joe Pass Omnibook and this book really saved me . . . .The songs sound so much better when I read the tabs . . .maybe I should study notation a little more . . .but man! . . .This book really swings . . . .You might want to check out the Joe Pass Omnibook, as well . . . Satin Doll's transcribed solo was real cool . . ..Anyway, Ulf's book with Peterson is worth the price of admission . . .Real nice bluesy/jazz like lines and phrases you might see yourself playing months from now . . .Fundamental Changes is a good publisher . . .and you might want to check out the 100 Classic Jazz Licks from several of the worlds great jazz guitarists . . .I plan on buying The Jazz Guitar Omnibook (no relation to this book) but after checking out the Joe Pass Omnibook and this book . . . .I figure the Jazz Guitar Omnibook is worth the ticket, as well . . .In short . . .buy this book and check out more stuff from Fundamental Changes as a publisher . . .I think Chris Brooks is with this publisher . . .and you might want to branch out into the "rock lick" world for more lines and phrases . . .can't hurt . . .Regardless . . .I gave Ulf's book five stars . . .I'm having a good time with these tabs . . . .

Really Enjoying This Book
I am not a full on Jazz player. I enjoy Jazzed Blues and more advanced country/western swing type of stuff. Several of the players I like have said that their influences were people that played other instruments. So I have dug into Saxophone players and piano players. Most of what is presented in this book is somewhat familiar to me, but just different enough to be really fun and interesting.Listening to the audio examples is very important in order to get the feel and phrasing closer to what Oscar played as opposed to just playing Oscar on guitar. Ulf's other book BeBop Sax licks and Mike Sterns book are recommended also.

Not just for jazz guitarists
This bookl has some of the most interesting guitar lines. Ulf Wakenius is a tremendous player who spent 10 years with the Oscar Peterson Quartet. Filling the shoes of the some of the biggest names in jazz guitar history, Kessel, Ellis, Pass. Ulf has taken what he learned from Oscar's playing and transcribed it into usable guitar licks and phrases. Fortunately it comes with an audio download of the examples as some are very fast. But his instruction is well thought out and easy to understand how to play it, and in what context. There's something for every style of player here, not just jazz. A great opportunity to increase your guitar vocabulary.

Great starting point for new ideas
This is a great book for a jazz/blues guitar player looking for new ideas. I use it as a starting point and then try to come up with new ideas by changing the rhythm and note choices and it's helped me a ton. I recommend it for anyone who is looking to find inspiration for new lines.

Slept Through Class
This book jumps from near useless watered down OP licks for guitar to full on virtuoso transcription of solos. Not the best but for 20 bucks gotta appreciate the times we live in. Feels like a book for book sake.
