The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)King Henry VIII (Eric Bana) lacks an heir. Seeing this as an opportunity for personal gain, the Duke of Norfolk (David Morrissey) and Sir Thomas Boleyn (Mark Rylance) persuade Thomas' daughter Anne (Natalie Portman) to seduce the king. But Henry falls in love with Anne's sister, Mary (Scarlett Johansson), instead. When Mary becomes pregnant, she's confined to bed, with charged with Anne keeping the king from straying -- but the plan backfires when Anne seeks the king's affections for herself.

Great story in the Philippa Gregory lineup, BASED ON HISTORY
If you are interested in the Tudor Era, this is a great addition to your "Watch List". It is not exactly "historically accurate", but it's still a nice representation of some otherwise forgotten & maligned characters in history. Based on the books by Philippa Gregory. I also recommend the series "The White Queen", "The White Princess" "The Spanish Princess" & "The Tudors". "Becoming Elizabeth" was also great, but it stopped after 1 season, so left off at the death of little Edward....

Beautiful film, but leaves so much untold
Acting was terrific, sets, costumes, musical score, all wonderful, but having read so many books about this subject, the story is very incomplete. I guess that's what can be squeezed into approximately 2 hours.Anne Boleyn was a pawn, as were so many noble women, in that time, and I, personally, believe that she's been credited with far too much control, over her own life and decisions. Her father, uncle, and most probably her mother, were all very, very ambitious, and simply tried to rise too high. Finding favor with the king was everything, losing that favor usually meant your end.It is simply fascinating, to me, to grasp the fact that this event, this woman, not only changed the entire face of England, the break with the Catholic church, but also bore one of the greatest sovereigns in history, her daughter, Elizabeth. Movie is very well done.

An Outstanding Historical Movie, Very Well Done
I really liked this film. The scenery was beautiful, the acting was excellent, and they made the story line very easy to follow. You got invested in the characters, too.If you ever thought old English history was boring, this film will change your mind. It shows that people - and families - were doing the same scheming and awfulness that some people and families are doing today. And it makes you want to go straight to watching a great movie about the little girl featured at the very end of the film- the little girl who went on to be Queen Elizabeth the First. "The Other Boleyn Girl" shows how Anne Boleyn was killed largely because she bore Elizabeth, and not a son. So how did Elizabeth go on to rule? This movie makes you curious about that! The only faults I see in this movie is that in real life, Henry VIII wasn't that young, healthy, and good looking when he was seducing and bedding the Boleyn sisters back in the 1520s or 1530s. The actor playing Henry VIII was just too young and good-looking. And the Boleyn sister's uncle, played by David Morrissey (remember The Governor, from the Walking Dead TV series?) was a bit too over-the-top evil. But that's it.So this movie is a must-see, when it comes to filling the "historical movies" box on your movie checklist. I highly recommend it.

Enjoyed the movie
I enjoyed the movie, and the acting was very good. Remember this is a movie - not a documentary. Some "creative liberties" were taken. For example, in the movie, Anne is portrayed as the older sister, but in real life - Mary was the older sister. The Boelyn girls did not meet Henry VIII via a dinner invite at the Boelyn home - they met in court. The end of the movie implies that Mary raised Anne's daughter Elizabeth, but that did not happen. Creative liberties aside, I found the movie enjoyable, and it does give a glimpse as to what it was like in Tudor times. The Tudors are my favorite historical figures.

"The Other Boleyn Girl: A Spellbinding Tapestry of Tudor Secrets
I really enjoyed watching The Other Boleyn Girl. It's this intriguing historical drama that takes you deep into the world of the Tudor court. The whole story, filled with ambition, betrayal, and family drama, kept me hooked. Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson did an amazing job bringing the complex relationship between Anne and Mary Boleyn to life. The costumes and set design were so well done; they really transported me back to that period. Sure, it might not stick to every historical detail, but if you're into captivating period pieces with a mix of family drama and political intrigue, this one's a winner.
