Q: O'm disabled, can these be used one handed?

I think most people would find it difficult to use these with one hand, but if you're used to doing most things with one hand and have practice moving your fingers in nimble ways, you could probably figure out a way if you practice enough. I have seen some other types of ponytail holders on Amazon that are similar to the pull-cords on a hoodie; you slip the loop around your hair and pull the cord to tighten it. I haven't tried that kind myself, but maybe that might work better for you than these hook kind?

Q: Do these give pony tales extra volume?

You can create extra volume by using these hair ties wrapped around 2 ponytails creating one fuller ponytail. For crown volume you would still need to tease the hair

Q: Has anyone gone through a walkthrough metal detector wearing these? My job requires patdowns and a walkthrough metal detector.

I have not been through a metal detector with these on.

Q: Does these work with short hair? Im trying to di tight bun with my short hair

If your hair is too short, these may not work.
