Superb lens
Great walk about lens, it’s very light and has good reach, tack sharp too. It’s a great back up lens to my heavy prime which can be a pain to lug about.. highly recommended

Amazing lens..
Brilliant lens, the aperture is a slight letdown, however if you know what you’re doing, there’s no disappointment here. Very light lens, size isn't too bad.

Simply perfect for my needs
I was beginning to give up on Canon and sad (jealous!) to see so many excellent reviews of the Sony 200 - 600mm but then I realised I could pair this lens with my trusted EF24-105mm with the EF converter and go from 24mm to 500mm with two L lenses that don't weigh a ton and cropping the images from my R5 would give me all the distance I needed.Image stabalisation is fantastic and sharpness is out of this world, better than a huge white 500mm f4 I bought years ago which wasnt exactly hand holdable and just gathers dust nowadays.You have to be careful using EF lenses with R series bodies. They'll work okay with an EF converter but they dont all give 100% sensor coverage which is useful for tracking moving subjects and that includes the RF600mm and RF800mm. You can find the sensor coverage for lenses on the Canon website.Very happy!

To swap from digital to mirrorless...kit for kit, if you will, you shed almost a full kg.Almost a weightlessness to it, more freedom but this will have far reaching results

Great lens - shame about the Tripod Ring Mount...
The lens is fantastic and I can't fault it. So why one star? Unfortunately the tripod ring mount/collar is not fit for purpose. When mounted on a tripod, the lens will rotate within the ring even when tightened as tight as it goes. Googled this issue and see that others have encountered issue with this lens/collar as well.UPDATE: Got the lens back from Canon. They’ve replaced the collar BUT it has the same issue as the collar I had. The lens still rotates within the collar even when it’s as tight as it goes. :(
