It was a great gift for my girlfriend that was trying to learn to fly fish.

Quality of the product seems to be very good. Have yet to be able to actually try it out fishing due to weather.

The rod and reel are great for getting started. Would recommend buying better backing, and a weight forward 6 weight floating line to get started. The line and backing are the two downfalls of this starter kit. Thus four stars.

Very nice fly rod and entire kit! I have fly rod and gear from top brands like Orvis including fly line and leader. When I say this entire kit does not disappoint, I mean it does not disappoint! I was skeptical of the line that came with it, but as you can see in the pics it’s catching blue gill, bass, crappie and more (salt water coming soon)!The line floats very well, without any treatment! The casting is smooth with very good distance. The line lands pretty gently on the water and I haven’t had any issues from the reel whatsoever.This is my 2nd fishing rod from this brand, I initially got the collapsible plus this fly rod as rods to teach others how to fish…intending them to be disposable. Turns out they’re very well made, stylish and very functional so they’re my new favorite and best kept secret! If you’re just starting out or a pro I highly recommend this kit and brand to add to your fishing arsenal. If you’re just starting to fly fish, this is without a doubt you’re go-to setup. Buy this first before you wrack your brain deciding which expensive combination to go with, you’ll love your purchase and your decision. Every rod/reel/line/flies you get in the future will have to need surpass this before you spend your hard earned and saved up money…because you’ll see that being a fly guy/gal isn’t cheap! If you’re like I was, reading reviews, watching YouTube videos, debating whether or not to buy this setup, do yourself a favor and hit “Buy Now”. You won’t regret it! This kit comes with everything you need to start fly fishing. The flies might not be ideal for your area, but you can do what I did and use them to practice before going to a sporting goods store and buying the right flies. Overall though, this setup looks and feels like it should cost WAY more than it does. Tight lines!

This review is on setting it up and I will update when we use it. This was horrible to set up, no instructions and since the Don't put the fly line on a reel, you have to have someone untangling as someone reels in it. It took us over an hr to figure out how to do it. I bought this for my boyfriend for xmas and was going to order one for myself, but after this, I will be ordering myself a different one.

Keep in mind you are paying for a great value rod and reel with a case. Can't beat the price. If your package arrives missing any of the other items don't worry. The rest of the stuff is trash anyway (except the backing, Dacron is Dacron). Throw everything else away. Order fly line, leader, tippet, flies and fly box from your favorite real fly shop. If you HAVE to use the crap that came with then here are some tips: 1. cut the small diameter "tippet" part of leader off and use just the butt section (the 'tippet' part will just break off anyway) and tie on some real tippet that you get from the fly shop. 2. Slide the bodies of all the flies down to the barb, put a drop of superglue on the hook shank, then slide the bodies back up on the shank ( the flies are not tied properly and will end up at the hook barb after the first cast anyway) 3. If you are so hard-up that you HAVE to use the fly box, then use it while saving money for a real fly box (you will only have about 3 weeks before the hinge breaks so start saving). 5 stars for the great buy on the rod, reel and case AND it arrived quickly. These three items are well built and will last as long as you care for them properly.
