Comfortable gloves that seem durable enough and gain my overall recommendation
The first thing to understand about these gloves is that they are NOT sterile - so don't be inclined toward any expectation that they are. To be fair, the advert/listing DOES specify this adequately and the boxes (packaging) do confirm this.Understand also that they are powdered and are rubber latex - just to be clear in case that does not fit with your own skin's 'requirements'.On to the packaging: really not very good in that the boxes I received were quite squashed and had opened at one end. I do not think that this is due to any attempt at opening the boxes and trying to remove any of the gloves, simply that the boxes had been exposed to some harsh treatment or extreme stress - certainly more than their presumably limited structural integrity could withstand, anyway. The date of manufacture/packaging is quite important for rubber latex gloves. I had been using some that I'd bought from Aldi, maybe a couple of years ago (possibly more), and which had started to perish (some starting to literally fall apart). Those were stored in my garage, ready for hazardous jobs such as renewing enine-oil and filter on the car, etc. (in a much better box, I should add!) but had gained great use for shopping, etc. during these coronavirus-ridden times. These were bought 'the other way around', reasoning-wise, as they were bought principally for virus-protection but additionally for those mucky or hazardous engine-oil (etc.) jobs. By the time these were delivered and the package had been 'quarantined' for a few days, we were into November 2020 and these are dated 2019-02, so they are actually quite old already but their expiry-date is marked as 2024-01, which gives some indication that they shouldn't start to perish anytime soon (probably dependent on how well they're stored). And of the gloves, themselves? I'm not any great expert and I have only ever used two latex brands and one of 'vinyl, non-latex' (that vinyl one being terrible!) but I can safely say already that I really like these. These large-sized ones are quite a good fit - which is great as hand shape is very varied across people. I have fairly large hands with fairly long fingers and I'd say that for me, the fingers of the gloves could be perhaps 3mm longer to be perfect - but that really is nit-picking because in practise the fit is good. My partner, with much more slender hands than mine, but almost as long (traditionally known as a piano-player's fingers!), finds them comfortable too. They do seem quite durable, too - so definitely not perishing yet - and they slip on quite easily due to the fact that they are powdered. This also means that they are not overly grippy on the outside as well, which is nice (just try winding-up a car scissor-jack wearing bare-latex ones and you'll know what I mean about "overly grippy"!), but of course you may want to remove the residual powder on the outside with a damp sponge or towel or something, once youve put them on - depending upon what you're planning to do whilst wearing them - but I've not yet felt the need to do that, myself. They are of a 'cream' colour, rather than the 'buff' (yellowy) version of a light skintone that I've had before. A bit 'white', for me - I think I prefer the more subtle, less-pale tones of previous ones (but who really cares about that, eh?).So far I have mainly used the gloves as a 'sanitary barrier', for example when I go shopping (purely coronavirus-oriented). I put them on outside the shop and, when I have deposited shopping into the car boot, carefully pull of one glove and then the second without touching the outside with a bare hand (and store them safely in the car for safe disposal later). I should add that I have many other protective measures and protocols, before anybody jumps upon any perceived deficiencies there! The price (£9.99 offer per box of 100 when I purchased) was significantly higher than I've paid in the past at Aldi, but I think this is a superior product - and also there may well be more demand in the current 'climate' than back then, which may mean a fluctuating price for 'semi-PPE' products such as these. Of course, each "tenner's-worth" did include postage, so the fewer boxes one might buy, the more reasonable the price would appear when P&P is taken into account. In conclusion:-- Comfortable gloves that seem durable enough and gain my overall recommendation, used by me currently as coronavirus 'barrier';- They are not of very recent manufacture (over 18m old), but do at least have a reasonable 'prescribed lifespan' remaining (>3y);- Packaging is quite poor and was received in poor condition, with gloves visible at damaged end of box BUT these gloves are NOT marketed as sterile (which makes this seem less of an issue);- Rather white-ish cream in appearance, no identifiable hue of any "skintone";- Possibly a tad expensive for what they are.Overall, one star removed for the part-open, bashed/squashed packaging - any other quibbles about the product are really negligible and I'd recommend this product for 'general' use. Four stars.
