Impressive little DAB/FM radio
This is an impressive unit given the modest price and built-in rechargeable battery.Included with the radio is a USB lead and a small pictorial-only user guide (no words) which is hard to decipher due to the small pictures, but it does contains a scan code to allow you access a full text PDF manual on August's web site - you can also search for this by looking for ""August MB225_EN user manual" for the English manual. The radio is available in 5 colours - silver, white, red, blue, black - I chose the silver one and it looks pretty smart. The radio has a few buttons and I'll quickly explain the functions behind these (I mainly tested these for DAB mode):On top - 4 preset buttons allowing rapid selection of presets 1-4 and power on/off.On front:scan - initiate a station scan (make sure the aerial is fully extended and hold the radio up high for best results). The results are stored within the unit's memory and you can scroll through the stations which were found and select one to play using the central dial. In FM mode, any stations found are automatically added to the presets (can store upto 20 stations)preset - used to recall one of the presets - or also save the current station into the preset memory. 4 stations can be accessed by the 4 buttons on the top, but the radio can actually store 20 DAB presets - you can do this by pressing "preset" for a few seconds and then using the central dial to select the preset number, and then pressing "select".info/snooze - gives information about the current station, press repeatedly to look through more details. One of the items listed is the "signal error" count which tells you how clearly that station's DAB signal is being received.mode - allows you to switch between DAB and FM modesmenu - allows you to access the main menu. Suboption "system" allows you to select backlight intensity and backlight timeout. There are three brightness levels for the display. You can also access the alarm and sleeptimer settings under "system", as well as the language (English, German, French, Italian are supported)select - used to select options and choices for various menus and also to store presets.central dial - 4 way control with up/down = tune to different stations or select options, and left/right = decrease or increase volume. It's great that there is a rechargeable Li-ion battery inside the radio (capacity = 2000mAH) and this supposedly gives 25 hours of listening time. The battery is charged using a microUSB lead and the current drawn is about 700mA when the radio is empty, reducing to about 300mA when close to full. I estimated a full charge would take a few hours - unfortunately the charging indicator in the display does NOT indicate when the battery is fully charged, but I did verify that the current draw did drop to 0, so it shouldn't do any harm if you leave the radio charging for several hours. I would expect the battery to be usable for a few hundred charges and this means this radio will save you a small fortune compared to buying disposable batteries. This alone makes the radio worth purchasing! The back of the radio has 6 screws so I assume the back can be opened and a competent person may be able to replace the battery if and when it loses it's capacity. As regards sound quality, the unit doesn't have much bass or treble but I found it perfectly fine for listening to sport commentary, news and most music - but it's obviously not going to compare with sets costing £100.One more point to note - if the radio needs to be sent in for a warranty repair it must be sent back in the original box and with all original accessories - this seems rather heavy handed.

Fantastic, great value product
I was initially drawn to this radio for the 20 hour battery life and not much else. I didn't care for something with the best sound quality, or the most user friendly design. I just wanted something to take with me to the allotment to listen to in the shed when potting or something to break the silence when digging that wasn't going to cost the earth or be bulky and a pain to transport. But I've been pleasantly surprised by the sound quality which is, for it's size and price, at the absolute top end of what you could expect. It's crisp and doesn't go tinny on higher volumes. It's also very compact and very nicely designed and doesn't look out of place in the home or at the allotment. The battery life is as expected; I haven't timed it but it had it on for at least 6 hours yesterday and another 5 hours today and the battery indicator has only gone down slightly. The instructions are quite poor (they're basically picture demonstrations so it's a bit like playing Catchphrase when you read them) but it's simple enough to work out if you play about with it. It also has a handy reset button should you do something that you cannot put back when fiddling about with it. All in all it's a really good product and brilliant value. Anyone in need of something cheap but good quality look no further.

Good little radio.
I bought this to use in the bathroom; white colour matches well. Size is pretty small (what I wanted), while sound is much louder than DAB sports radio it replaced. Pretty intuitive to scan etc but needed to download PDF for full set-up instructions. Few niggles- I can set up the display as wanted ( date and time) but this seems to need resetting each time I turn the radio on. Also, need to press 'power' button twice to turn on/off , as first press goes to standby. Finally, although battery life is fine and as expected, the radio turns itself off showing 'low power' message when battery symbol on display still shows about 40%

Tidy little radio, does the job.
Great little radio. Battery life is good for a DAB and lasts all day on a couple of hours charge. Does what it says on the label.

Great value , good performance
Researched many small DAB radios before buying one to use outside in garden. Some prices are eye-watering, and for my use, I don't need concert hall sound quality. The integral rechargeable battery is a good feature, and it was easy to set up for both DAB and FM stations. Sound is quite acceptable, and small size makes it easy to move around. For the money it is excellent value and I would not hesitate to recommend it as a low cost portable DAB radio.

Looks nice, DOESN'T WORK!
Really pleased when this arrived and looked better than expected - just the thing I was looking for! Pressed the on/off switch and display came on - great, we're off! Read the instructions, pressed every single button, tried literally EVERYTHING but not one of the buttons worked! At one point, I did finally manage to get it to scan for stations (not sure how!!) and it played for a while (sound quality was terrible to start with, but it seemed to settle) and then......it wouldn't switch off again. Finally persuaded it to switch off, at which point, all the other buttons stopped functioning when switched back on. Ridiculous.

Ok
Whilst this is a nice sized little radio and the sound is great.....the battery life is not so good, i take this to work and only lasts about 4-5 hours, the display battery percentage says there is half life of charge but the radio cuts out as if no charge at all. Also the display panel is very dark I have to get a torch to see it not such an issue unless you want to see how much battery life there is or see the radio station...for the price I expected a little better.
