Respectfully soft, bouncy, very well-made adjustable pillow. Cooler than most pillows I've tried.
I'd like to note first that pillow reviews are entirely subjective. A five-star pillow for one person can be a one-star to another and vice versa. This depends on how the person sleeps, density preference, softness, et cetera. This review has been written after a few nights of use. I'll try to come back to this review and update it after a longer time of use.First, I'm a side sleeper. After a recent back injury, I seemed to have morphed into a back sleeper. I start on my side as that as how I was used to sleeping, then end up on my back through the remainder of the night. Or so my fiancé says. This inherently causes trouble for me, as pillows designed for side sleeping tend to be "taller," while back sleeper pillows tend to be thinner. Also, I'm 5'3, so keep that in mind as well.Height - This pillow is adjustable via a (very soft) insert. It seems so soft and thin (when pressed down on), but for some surprising reason, it really does adjust the height a measurable amount. For my incredibly tall stature, I prefer the pillow without the insert in it. It's the perfect height for me. When I'm reading, though, I prefer the insert inside as my head tilts forward a bit. You can remove the latex layer as well, but why would you do that? Why? What's wrong with you?Softness - I'd give this a 4 out of 5. It's not super soft, but pretty dang soft. In fact, I only say this because the insert is VERY soft. I wish the softness of the insert was the same as the "softcell" layer of the pillow. The insert is not quilted, so perhaps that contributes to the soft feel. I understand the need for the quilt pattern - to maintain the even shape so the faux-feathers don't all travel to one side of the pillow and make it lop-sided. I'm expecting the softness to change over time, so we'll see. Since each side of the pillow is different, you can flip the pillow over if you prefer the soft quilted side or the slightly firmer latex side.Build quality - This pillow is very well-made. The area for the insert is lined well and feels luxurious. The lining separates the latex layer, the faux-feather insert layer, and the faux-feather quilted layers and you can remove the latter two layers if you wish. I don't see this pillow falling apart any time soon, if ever. The zipper is thin and recessed so I never feel it, even when moving the pillow around.Cooling - I live in dry, hot weather and my bedroom reflects that despite fans and an air conditioner. This pillow stays relatively cool, though I'm not sold on the idea of pillow sheets transferring heat to the pillow itself as indicated in the answers to the question of cooling here on Amazon. It's definitely cooler than my other pillow, which is a memory foam/faux-feather hybrid, and this is to be expected. Sleeping on the latex side seems to maintain a cooling feeling longer than the quilted side. To be honest, I haven't yet experienced a pillow that absolutely remains cool through the night, and this is no exception. Conclusion - I really like this pillow for my needs. I'm able to adjust it to what I want. It's quite soft but still manages to maintain enough firmness. It's not as firm as my memory-foam pillow, which is why you would get a latex pillow in the first place, but it's more firm than a standard pillow. I move around a lot when I sleep, adjusting from side to back, and this pillow adjusts quickly to those movements, which I really like. My memory-foam hybrid fails in this respect. The price definitely reflects how well-made it is, but I'm not entirely sold on the cooling. But then again, I have yet to find a pillow that remains cool throughout the night.Edit 11/6/22: I'm still using this pillow on the daily (nightly?) and it's still going strong. It's my favorite pillow to this day. It has "flattened out" slightly, but surprisingly not too much. It's still sturdy and comfortable. I'm much more sold on the coolness of it. Again, it's not super cool or anything, but during the summer I use the cool side (flat side) and during the winter I use the "quilted" side. I will note that the quilted side keeps my head from moving, while the cooler side is more "springy" and my head rolls a bit easier, which I'm not entirely a fan of, but the tradeoff is worth it to me. Absolutely a quality product that holds up, at least for two years, and I still highly recommend it.Edit 3/1/25: I'm still here and I'm still using the same pillow (though my surroundings are different). I've uploaded some photos and you can see how dirty/yellow it is, but it's from a lot of use. Gross, I know. It's still going strong! Same cooling effect and these days, in reverse of what I said before, I actually prefer the smooth, cooling side. There's some fraying on the sides, but it's still together and nothing is spilling out. You can compare how much it has flattened (honestly, not bad for four years), but this pillow has been giving me the best chance at good sleep compared to others. We've tried several for my wife throughout this time, but I won't let go of this one. Still, it is quite pricey, and we're a bit more frugal these days. I'm not sure I can recommend it unless you're willing to spend that much for something you're not sure of. As for me, I will totally buy another one. Four years with the same quality pillow is pretty darn good. I'm very satisfied.

Good for 2 years.
I bought a set of these pillows at a mattress store a couple of years ago. The salesperson talked me into it. I really enjoyed these pillows for their first two years of life; it was nice to be able flip them on hot nights to lay my head on the cool side. The issue I have with them is that they don’t have enough loft for me as a side sleeper with broad shoulders. This became apparent after a couple of years when the pillows finally flattened. 4 stars and not 3 only because I discovered a way to extend the pillow’s life by increasing loft and taking the small insert out of one and putting it into the other. I use the flatter pillow in between my knees when sleeping. Works like a charm with a pillow top mattress.

Not cool!
First encountered this pillow at an Airbnb at the beginning of the year and I had the best few nights sleep on it. Did the should I/shouldn't I dance for a few months before pulling the trigger and what I received from Amazon is nothing like what I slept on previously. It's not a bad pillow but it was purchased for it's cooling properties of which there are none, it's no cooler than a regular down pillow, if I'd have kept the box I'd be returning it and not accurately described by seller.

Best Pillow on the Market!
I have gone thru many pillows in my lifetime. My all time favorite was a latex foam pillow, I never have found one to match its equality of comfort until this one. I saw this in a store on display, when I layed on it, I told my husband "this is the one", he looked at the price, and said no way am I paying $149.00 for a pillow. well I received a gift certificate for a x-mas gift last year, and decided to put the money towards this pillow and pay the difference, it arrived promptly, I took it upstairs put it on my bed and tested it out thoroughly, its perfect. Thank God I can throw away my lumpy of a "My Pillow" which caused massive headaches and neck pain. I highly recommend this PureCare Sub 0 pillow to any and everyone, it is also worth every penny! They would be #1 in sales if they would lower their price to at least $100.00. Its a shame because this pillow will cure all neck pain and headaches that people wake up with and its such a relief to get a good nights sleep for overall health.

Not the Mattress Firm Pillows.
If you are looking for the Lux Pillows from Mattress Firm, I did not find that these were the same. I thought they were quite a bit less supportive. Fortunately, they let me return them, but I did have to pay shipping ($40).

Worth the money!
Love this pillow! I was worried that I spent too much for it. Not the case. Worth the money I paid. Best sleep night I have had in a long time. Highly recommend.
