Used for a 4ft stall gate. Made it a lot easier to manage milking our goats instead of using the gate hook and chain. The way this unit works makes opening and closing the gate much faster, which is most helpful when you are dealing with goats. There is a bit of a gap between the gate and the stall after installation (About 1 inch), The gap is easily remedied and had we know about this type of latch when building the stall, we could have designed the gate area to accommodate a nice fit.

Just installed, so limited use so far.When installing, you may have to shim behind the part that mounts on a post. I used this on a heavy duty gate with 2" tubing.For may install there wasn't room for the rotating lock plate to move into locking position until I shimmed the bottom of the part that mounted on a post (building in my case) out so the pin (mounted to gate) could do in deep enough to allow locking plate to rotate in locked position. I added about 8 flat washers to shim out 1/2" or more at the bottom.TIP: Be sure to use long lag screws or bolts to hold the locking plate in place or livestock may be able to push on gate and pop the locking plate loose.

I really really don’t like that the gate will no longer close flush with the post after this is installed. I can’t believe no one else has mentioned this in a review. I wouldn’t have bought it if I would have noticed it but if you look at the design, you’ll notice how it is only going to shut the gate in front of the post after this is installed. Not flush with the post. I consider that a major design flaw.

This is a great Gate Latch.Only issue is its made in China, and possible a copy of the ones made in the USACo-Line Has this Latch Made in the USA and arrives much faster than the Speeco Items.

These are installed on our barn. Gates swing into barn from pasture. Horse ran up stopping a little long and just bumped the gate. That was all it took to for the whole assembly to flex out and away from its mounting and open the gate. This whole thing should be welded to a back plate so all those bends in the metal don't lose shape. Otherwise they are nice and easy to use.

Matches the color of my gate and was easy to install. I had to back the latch receiver out about an inch from the post with some wood because of the way the gate had been hung. But it was a breeze to install

Prior to discovering these latches, most of my gates were secured with that chain thing they come with. Sure, the chain works, but it does not support the gate and takes two hands to open and close which is a big problem from horseback or even carrying a feed bucket. And then I discovered these latched!! I ordered one to try it out. And I have since replaced all the latches on my farm with either these or the two way latches. They are very easy to install, very high quality and work great!! I can open the gate quickly with one hand and just push it shut and it latches on it's own. And while the gate is shut, it's fully supported which will prevent sagging. What a wonderful invention.

Why have I never seen this before? The best gate latch I've ever seen or used in my life!

I am using this on a 16 foot gate and needed something to last and this product is working well. I would recommend to a friend.

I wanted something secure and easy for the kids to open. I’d often need to open the latch with one hand, and close easily. This is exactly what I needed. It is very sturdy and well made.

Paint will chip where the striker plate hits but great product. Will buy again.

No one can figure out how to open it lol easy install, paint comes off where the latch and pin meet. O well.

I purchased three of these and they work perfectly. I just had a fence installed and the wife needed a better way to close the gates than fighting a chain and hook every time. These fit the bill. I had to put some angle iron on each post as the posts are round and the latch would not reach to the middle of the post. I combined them with a spring on the gate and they work flawlessly.

Nice, mounts on outside of post vs between post and gate like some do. I had to move my post in an inch or 2.

Installed two of these this week, not more fumbling with chains and snaps! No more having livestock lip the chains and open the gates themselves! LOVE THEM so much I just ordered two more.
