The artwork is beautiful and very unique.The biography gives a great insight to Mary Anning's discoveries throughout her time.My niece adores dinosaurs and learning about extinct creatures, so I was thrilled to have found this book! It features the tale of a female paleontologist who despite not being able to join the Geological Society of London at the time due to her being a woman, others still flocked to her with questions. Geologists, scientists, scholars, etc, all went to Mary with their questions on Earth's past. A marvelous biography that shows the discoveries of dinosaurs and the influence/importance of female scientists.

4.5 year old daughter came up to me and said she wanted to become a scientist so had to become a boy (dad's a scientist) hence my panic buying this book (because if she wants to be a girl scientist that is and should be an option in her mind. Pages are nicely heavy, color is printed vividly. It's a beautiful book. It also uses lovely vocabulary that is nice to read as an adult as well. She *scoured* the beach, etc.Very informative. My 1 year old daughter's current favorite book and we read it 5 times a day. My 4.5 year old is in a stage where she's read it once--move on phase. But she said she liked it when she was read it.

My 7yo girl is currently obsessed with dinosaurs, so our house is quickly filling with all kinds of dino-related merchandise. We bought this book for her birthday, and it is now one of her favorites. She currently wants to be a paleontologist, just like Mary Anning, and refers to this book daily. It is informative, age appropriate, and interesting.
