Sounds great, and is made of quality material
Am loving it so far! I was a high school clarinet player (about 30 years ago). My child is now playing the clarinet and I decided to purchase one to practice with them. It has a nice mellow tone and the quality seems pristine. Comes with a case that has a soft outer padding to help protect against accidental drops, etc. loving the shoulder strap as well! Has pocket for music book on the outside of the vase

Yamaha is always the best. Got the best sound quality.
We bought a $100 cheap brand from Amazon for my son to use initially. That instrument lasted for one semester and things already started breaking down. Yamaha $700+ has the highest quality of sound and material. And this instrument is just the starter model. My son is happy because he finds playing this instrument easier to produce the same notes from a cheap one and has better sound. I guess you get what you pay for.

Frugal Finds - Thanks drbailey0101
Thank you so much for this wonderful clarinet drbailey0101! It’s in amazing condition, plays wonderfully (all registers), and the keys and pads are smooth and extremely responsive. This is better condition than the one I used in my college symphonic band. I bought this because I plan to teach band. This will definitely help me improve my skills and I will have a quality instrument to teach with. Words don’t do enough justice to how grateful I am, truly.

Now you know! Debate ended!
Ok so, there are some reviews on this site that say it’s a knock off but they’re wrong. How do I know? Google translate!!! If you hold the camera option on it over the warranty card that comes with it (it’s Korean) it’ll translate the warranty and it’ll say it’s a legit ycl-255 for sale in Korea. It’ll say warranty is only good in Korea. But, you can pay the 77.00 for the amazon 4 year warranty or skip it and take it for repair if something goes wrong and you’re STILL not paying 1017.00 at Sam Ash or Musicians Friend!! I just got mine today and I’m keeping it. It’s the real deal, It sounds great and I saved 400.00. If something breaks I have 400.00 for repairs but....it’s pretty solid! Construction looks flawless. Beautiful instrument! Soft case is nice, and it’s not TOO soft so you can bang it around a bit. I only gave it 4 stars for beginners cause there’s a lot of clarinets that are cheaper but they’re probably made cheaper. I’ll post again in a few months if I can figure out how to do that with an update. Oh, and the sound is spot on! I’m pretty sure the R13 sounds better but not 3k dollars better lol

Broke in 1 weeks
I purchased a clarinet for my child, but after only five days, the screw holding the key in place came loose, making it unplayable. I returned it, but they deducted a $377 fee and did not refund the full amount. This is the first time I’ve had such an experience using Amazon.

a woodwind professional can correct the issue.
Good option for me who has been playing for 35 years, but hardly at a professional level. I have no need for Nickel-plated keys or a need for a wooden clarinet, so this was a good match for me. I was replacing my student model that my parents purchased for me when I was 10! This clarinet has a nice warm and Very rich tone, feels nice, looks nice (finish looks like wood at a distance), but it has the same “glitch” as the intermediate Yahama that I bought and returned a few years back. Yahama clarinets all have a problem with a B natural. The pad does not completely close. Hence, you will need to have it adjusted (repaired) right out of the box. I find thins to be a Major problem, can’t for the life of figure out why Yamaha can’t get this right, and I feel that it (they should all) be able to be played “brand new” right out of the box.Don’t waste your money on an intermediate (wooden) Yamaha, it’s the same clarinet as this one, with the SAME problem playing a B natural. Save yourself done money.
