Great blade
I was looking for a conventional K bar when I came across this version.I am a martial arts practitioner and blade afficionado and consider this to be a very fast handling and effective fighter. The knife is a great compromise between a Bowie and a dagger at a fair price.

K-BAR made in USA
I have owned several old school combat knives from various conflicts through the decades but what caught my eye about this knife is the Japanese tanto profiling in the blade geometry. I have never seen this done on a K-BAR before and my curiosity got the best of me. I ordered it and I was not disappointedvat all. The quality of this knife is excellent and it looks b@d@ss with it's unique looks. The blade is thick and feels solid with a good weight. It terminates in a graceful tip in the Japanese style. Profile is crisp and even. The blade is a beveled edge and not a distal taper. No matter though, my example came sharp enough to shave arm hair out of the box! The handle is not stacked leather but solid with a grippy material that feels great and not overly tacky. I'm really glad I brought this knife, it's one of my favorites now

Another Big Winner for Ka-Bar
A very nice new knife from a prolific American manufacturer. The second photo shows what you get, the Modified Tanto and their versatile kydex sheath. The third picture is a side by side comparison of the standard Tanto (1245) and the new Modified Tanto (1266). Both have 8" blades, however, the Modified Tanto has a standard edge and the Tanto has a partial serrated blade. The first photo compares the Modified Tanto (middle) to the Big Brother (2217) on top, followed by the Fighter (1271) and the Tanto under followed by the standard Ka-Bar 7" blade at the bottom. The final shot is all five in their stock sheaths, with the regular Tanto sheath having the upper snap removed and lacing added.I like the feel and agility of the Modified Tanto. It is identical to the standard Tanto, with a balance point between the guard and first indent ring on the kraton grip. The blade shape, straight back, appears to be every bit as useful as a standard Tanto for puncturing, but better suited for slashing. If I were to select between the two Tanto offerings, I would pick the Modified for carry. All in all, a very nice addition to Ka-Bar's already versatile line of fighting/utility knives. It should also be noted that it comes razor sharp.

K-Bar once again setting a high standard
This knife is great, another reviewer said it was like a tiny sword. I agree with that. Sharp as a razor out of the box, this blade is high quality. The feel of the rubberized grip is nice, and easy to control. It is massive as far as knives go, and feels like it could get you out of a really tight spot if necessary. If the guy had one of these in "127 hours" it would have only been like 27 hours, and his arm would have been cut clean off with almost surgical precision. Get one of these if you want a high quality knife for hunting or backpacking, it will probably outlast you.

Excellent Knife! Nice And Sharp Straight Out Of The Box!
Excellent Knife! Nice And Sharp Straight Out Of The Box! Unfortunately Amazon Didn't Package The Knife Very Well In Their Package And The Actual Ka-Bar Box Was All Tore Up. I Know It Doesn't Sound Like A Big Deal, But I Am A Knife Collector And Want My Knife Boxes To Be New Just Like The Knife. Ka-Bar Makes Nice Knives, But They Seem To Be A Little Over Priced Just Because Of The Name.

The Best
Ka-Bar MOD Tanto is a great all around camping knife. Actually a friend bought this from me not long after I bought it. Kinda regret that, but I'll find another one!
