Very efficient!
The media could not be loaded. I am very happy with this pressure cooker! Soaked peas/beans cook within 2 to 3 minutes after pressure builds. I've done red kidney beans (regular and small), chick peas, black beans, yellow split peas, and field peas (which are really beans). All dry.Soak peas/beans overnight with a pinch of baking soda. Put beans in cooker with the soaking water. The amount of water depends on how you're going to prepare the beans after pressure cooking. Fill to no more than halfway if the peas tend to foam (like split peas); up to two thirds with others like kidney beans.Put the lid on without the valve/weight. When it starts to boil (vapor and steam should be coming out of the center vent only and not around the edges. **If steam/vapor is coming out around the edges, turn flame off, remove cover, check that the seal is properly seated, and replace the cover.**Put the weight on, reduce flame to low (not as low as simmer) and set a timer (I use 1 and 1/2 minutes for small peas and 2 and 1/2 mins for larger ones like chick peas.)When the time is up, turn off flame and leave the cooker on the hot burner to cool down on its own. The beans will continue to cook. By the time it's cool enough to remove the weight and the cover, the beans are fully cooked. For the small cooker I have, that's about 12 minutes with a flame on.I've also cooked smoked pork neck bones in 20 mins vs the 40 mins and more that I saw in some recipes.I've seen at least one review complaining about having to stick the cover down into the cooker to open and cover it. With a few tries, I've managed to get it in at a minimal angle (see video. Sorry about the poor quality, I was recording with one hand and manipulating the cover with the other).

Very tiny but very nice!
It’s really small as you can see my hand comparison in the picture, but I only need it to cook beans so it’s a good size for me. I love it so far 🩷

Great pressure cooker for one or two people.
I purchased this pressure cooker mostly to cook long grain / wild rice and it works quite well for that purpose, but is suitable for other foods as well. You will need to experiment somewhat with your cooking time since it is a hassle to check the progress of the food as it is cooking, but once you get a method established it works very well. As usual, it is best to read the instructions before use. There is a section that describes treating the inside of the pot with lemon juice to prevent the darkening of it's innards before first use. Also it is important to have enough water and cook at the proper temperature since overcooking could leave you with a mess in the bottom of the pot. I use steel wool or a heavy scouring pad only occasionally to remove any mild internal oxidation. Overall, this pressure cooker is very well built and should provide you with years of use. The handle appears to be Bakelite or similar material and feels very durable. The pressure release valve works well and is relatively easy to clean in the unlikely event it gets dirty. Sometimes I will bring the water to a boil before I close it off and then reduce the heat to about a three or four depending. I try to minimize the "popping" of the valve and shoot for having it just rocking back and forth a bit under pressure. Results will vary depending on the type of stove you have. Due to the shortness of duration it takes to cook food (and for safety reasons) I never leave it unattended. Although, if operated correctly, the most that would likely happen is overcooking or burning your food. All in all, I feel this was a good purchase.

Didn't last long and kinda blew up
Ok so I've been using a pressure cooker, a genuine one for many years but I needed a new one so I went with this one. Didn't last long and literally kinda blew up. I heard an explosion type noise and went to check and there was metal Inside my lentils. So those went in the trash as well as the pressure cooker. Not only that but it would whistle every friggin ten seconds. My old one did it every couple minutes but this one just whistles and whistles giving me anxiety sometimes I would just stand there with the metal thingy up and let all the steam out just so I dodnt have to hear it whistle for a while. ONE STAR and I'm so glad I dodnt get my house blow up with this piece of garbage.

Works great for my family of 3
This is a small cooker which is perfect for my family of 3. The pressure cooking has become easier with this one. Closing the lid and cleaning it around its handle can be little tricky. Do not exceed the quantity of food ( mentioned in user guide) otherwise the liquid tends to come out of whistle which can get very messy. Overall it’s a good cooker very well in the budget and is of a very good quality. So far the washer is good and I am hoping it will not become loose too quickly. Definitely a yes!!!

Fast cooker
I ordered these fast cooker for my Mom because when she cooks meats like beef which is a chewy meat and in a regular pot takes hours to cook in this one in a half an hour it’s done and cooked.Great design and I got it on sale also.

It works but not the best design
Amazon can increase its selection of shippable pressure cookers. It’s a good value and I e used it successfully but the design leaves much to be desired. Compare it to Vinod pressure cooker design. This Hawkins: is a good size ( I would not buy anything smaller if you want to get a good pressure inside the cooker) but the lid design is strange and takes awhile to practice with. The top of the cooker is curved in so stacking containers inside is insanely tricky coupled with the way the lid has to be fitted in. Almost impossible to fit 2 containers inside. I purchased it when traveling and it does the job with the high pressure cooking needs plus it’s lightweight yet strong enough to pressure cook. Plus is it’s lightweight enough to put inside a suitcase and travel .

Actual useable Capacity only 3 liters
Product is NOT advertised 6.5 liter capacity, as the lid needs to be tilted INTO/inside the pot to setup/remove, thus limiting actual/nominal capacity to HALF the advertised amount. I measured it: It is only 3 liters. Only suitable for the smallest PC jobs, eg; one or two people meals.-- Otherwise, seems to be a solid well-thought-out design (eg: lid on INSIDE of pot so it is impossible to blow out), although I never used it. Operating rated pressure is 14lbs, 1-2lbs better than many other multicookers and cheap PC's.-- I ordered this used/returned product, as I wanted an inexpensive solution; at $30 (Canadian dollars) used, it is a deal, if it suits your needs. I will resell locally rather than return product as I do not have a local Purolator operator. Amazon should have delivery vans pick up returning goods at my FRONT DOOR.

great quality
Great for small amounts of food. You may get a bit of a surprise first time you use it when the pressure valve blows off. This is natural and lets you know when to lower the temperature. The new style of valve doesn't rock like the old style. After a couple uses you will love it. Hawkins products are excellent quality.
