Works with any Casablanca fan
I have a couple of outdoors plantation Casablanca fans. Both worked with the same control, well I dropped it in water and I had to order a new one. It arrived next day. If the remote is intended to replace an old one, it must be “paired”, you cut the power to the fan or fans for a couple of seconds then turn back the electric power and press the power button with the number 4 at the same time the fan will start working at speed 4 once they are paired.

You'd think he would have like mentioned the misdelivery the dozen or so times I ...
The factory mislabeled my Wisp fan box and sent it to a neighbor. Who sat on it for months while I filed angry loss claims. Eventually he opened it and found our name inside and brought it over -- after apparently having lost the top styro that most likely included the stock remote and receiver. You'd think he would have like mentioned the misdelivery the dozen or so times I saw him in between. So I bought this when installing. Works well, though the instructions aren't written with an LED light in mind, or for the extra red wire that anomalously ran to my previous fan.Note that this is a pre-paired set of the remote with a receiver that goes inside the fan housing. A Cr button cell is included.

Bought as a replacement for remote, this is actually the whole system.
I already have the fan with the remote system and remote. The remote failed, so I was looking for just the remote. I thought this was a little expensive for a cheap plastic remote. However that's not what this is, it's the whole remote system with the remote and the receiver system that is connected to the fan that is why this is so expensive. Just the remote is part number: G176402000 which can be purchased from Casablanca for less, $35 but with $10 shipping.I think it's kind of deceptive that the photographs only show the remote and not the receiver system pictures. I'll keep it but I an a little annoyed. I'm also annoyed that the original failed after four years.

Good Product and Customer Service
This thing's actually a little trickier than you might expect, although it functions well once it's hooked up and running, and the four speeds are nice. The remote is a little small, being only about 3-1/2" by 1-1/2" by 3/4" thick. The buttons are pretty much flush with the remote face, so using it by feel is not as easy as it could be.First, the back is somewhat difficult to remove to access the battery until you've figured it out, as the instructions don't really explain how it is attached and therefore how to avoid breaking one of the plastic cogs holding the back on. A tiny phillips screw has to be removed first, then a catch or cog at the side of the back near the screw requires the side be pried away before the back can then be rocked upward to release the other catch at the bottom. Once you've done it, it's pretty straight forward, although you still feel like you're about to break something. If you are only installing one fan, the pairing process between the remote and a Casablanca fan is an easy step, and requires no setting of dip-switches in the two units that comprise the remote assembly. However, if this is the second or subsequent fan/remote combination of the same type, you have to disable the electrical connection of any previously installed and paired fan before you pair this remote to the fan it is intended to control, otherwise the pairing here will cause both (or more) fans to operate simultaneously from this remote. (This is not addressed in the installation instructions.) Since two identical fans and remotes I just installed were on the same breaker circuit, and I therefore couldn't just flip a breaker off to electrically disable the first fan, I had to disconnect the power wire from the first fan up inside its canopy, after having paired it to its own remote, in order to allow pairing of the second remote to the second fan. Once the second fan and remote are paired, then the first fan can be reconnected and its canopy can be closed up.I learned this the hard way (after actually considering it a possible problem but not acting on it - yeah, I'm embarrassed now) when installing the two identical fans and remotes in adjoining bedrooms, the correction of which required a simple but laborious 12-repetition process to restore the first fan to its own remote. I counted on proximity to the second being sufficient to avoid inadvertent pairing to both fans, which obviously didn't work. I do have to say, though, that Casablanca customer service was excellent in helping me fix my error, and the associate on the other end of the phone was very patient and courteous. In hindsight, I think I would rather just have the dip-switches.

I love the remote for our new Casablanca fan
I love the remote for our new Casablanca fan. You have the option of a really low speed that works really well in the winter mode. The fan we ordered came with two CFL bulbs, which can not be dimmed. The fan is smart and knows the type of bulb installed so the remote light switch works as on or off.One caveat, the directions are not very explicit when it comes to opening the back to install the battery. In our case, it was very hard to take the cover off and we had to use a small screw driver to get underneath the back to pry it open.

Image wrong and displays incorrect features - no reverse functionality!!!
The image of the remote is WRONG. There is NO REVERSE DIRECTION SWITCH on this remote. If you need to be able to change the direction of your fan, you need to buy the 99020. The picture displayed is misleading and wrong - shows a reverse direction switch when it is not on the actual product. False advertising.

No reverse switch as advertised
The remote works great. The problem is after I paid an electrician to install it I found out it doesn't have a reverse direction switch as advertised. Ultimately I didn't make sure it had it but I'm not paying to have it removed.
