The best stuff
I grew up in Michigan where this is made and this is what we always used for frying our food. It makes the best fried green tomatoes, squash, zucchini, onion rings, fish, or whatever. U don't do no egg wash with this. It's got great flavor, it's just the best stuff

Great all purpose fry mix!
Finally I have discovered a new to me, all purpose fry mix! Great replacement for the discontinued Krusteaz fry mix. Can’t find Pride of the West anywhere either. So happy to have Drakes! Great flavor and not spicy! We’ve used it on chicken strips and fried zucchini so far and it’s delicious!

High Quality Coating and Flavor
Purchased this all the time in Michigan for the BEST fried chicken, fish and onion rings. Havent found any other that beats the quality for flavor and coating consistency. Cant find it in the south so was thrilled to find it on Amazon.

NOT CRISPITY USING BEER!
IIt works with water and tastes good! but it does not make "crispy" beer batter! The batter is soft...PERIOD! I even mixed in baking powder, still soft! Then I mixed in baking powder AND corn starch...STILL SOFT but it didn't stick to my fingers this time and peel off of the wing sections. ROUND 3: I mixed in my standard "go to" Golden Dipt Beer Batter mix which is always perfectly crispy and delicious and it was about the same as the baking powder/corn starch recipe but it tasted better. Drake's on its own is a big thumbs down, it produces a limp, weak, soggy batter that falls off the chicken and pulls off by sticking to your fingers, CRISPY IS NOT PART OF ITS RESULTS FOR ME WITH FRESH NEW PEANUT OIL AT 350 DEGREES OR 375 DEGREES!

I love this product, been using it for 25 years. However, when I received my package, I noticed powder coming out in one of the corners of the box, the box was not damaged, well, I opened it up and my bag of drakes bag was split to where I had maybe 2 lbs left in bag, it was a mess, not to mention other items were in the box with it. I looked to return it, and it is a non-returnable item. Needless to say I was ticked off. Now I see I can purchase the 5lb bag at Meijers Store down the road. LOL PS Makes the best onion rings ever!
