Great clippers
Omg, I upgraded from the Oster Classic 76 and what a difference! Much more comfortable and lighter to hold, and much quieter. Looks great too.

Big step up from the Andis BGR+
I have been a loyal Andis BGR+ User for the past three of four years...great clipper with one big problem the battery....I had to routinely buy a new one at least twice a year at 60$ per.I received my new octane today and have been using it all day and it meets or exceeds my expectations in every area. The power is great and steady there is no "winding down" of power as the clipper is used throughout the day. Once it is out of power it turns off although I've never come close to running it out.The charging station has a slot for an optional extra battery but again I haven't come close to needing an extra and I cut all day long. The station charges one at a time...not a big deal once the clipper is fully charged your optional extra battery will be charged up and ready.A few things that are noteworthy about the clipper that I feel customer service is lacking in knowledge on after talking with them.It uses titan and classic 76 blades and Andis Ceramic and ultra edge blades...they are all interchangeable and work perfectly. When you receive the clipper you turn it on and run it WITHOUT A BLADE ON THE CLIPPER until it dies and then Place it on the charger for your first charge... doing so maximizes your batteries long term health. This only needs to be performed one time. And it will take at least 5 complete charges to get the maximum battery life out of the ion battery.Detachable basics: Turn the clipper OFF before depressing the blade release button and removing a blade.Conversely place a blade on the hinge and turn the clipper ON before snapping the blade into cutting position. It comes with 1 ion battery, a 000 and 1 blade, blade oil, and the standard cheesy cleaning brush that no barber ever uses anyway. One thing of note about any new blades they are usually coated with a residue to resist rust and moisture in warehouses until sold. They perform best if you clean them thoroughly with cool care, allow to dry completely and then oiled. This clipper does not require grease or to be opened to be maintained. Just make sure the blades are brushed cleaned and oiled. The clipper itself is sealed just brush excess hair at the end of each haircut and you're ready cut.The Octane is lighter, more comfortable, more powerful, and lasts conservatively twice as long as the BGR+It comes with a 3 year warranty not 5 like the Oster motorcycle rep says in his vids.****July 4 2018 UPDATE*****I purchased the octane in 2015...It still runs on the ORIGINAL battery as well as the first day I bought it. It is my favorite clipper and I have accidentally dropped it three or four times and suffered no ill effects. It is one of the best purchases I've ever made on amazon. Thanks Sam.It’s ******2021****** still going strong on the original two batteries. Same run time same cutting power….see you in a few more years. It’s *******2022****** still going strong with the original two batteries and charger…..same run time, still same awesome power. Ive dropped it several times now since owning and its as good as the day I bought it. See you ina few more years. It’s *******2024******* still going as good as the day I bought it…Just finished cutting my own hair with it. I have the original battery along with the one extra battery I purchased with the clippers. It’s as good as the day I bought it. The batteries also shockingly have the same run time and power. We’re looking at nearly 10 years of use now. See you in 2025.It’s *******2025******* still as good as the first day I bought…..STILL HAVE THE SAME TWO ORGINIAL BATTERIES! The batteries have lost no charge …same run time same great power and torque. This is one of the best clippers ever made. Ive dropped it many times and ive never had to replace a single part on the clipper. Oster doesnt make a lot of innovative clippers anymore but they made the best detachable cordless clipper in history with the Octane. See you next year.

Best cordless clipper
I love this thing. It is absolutely overkill. It's like the luxury sports car of hair clippers. Very quiet and cuts cleanly.I started looking into professional clippers for hot-swappable metal blades so that I could get a more consistent cut. I noticed that with the plastic combs that go over traditional clippers, sometimes the hairs would come out uneven and it would look messy. I would have to go over a lot to get it to look consistent. With the Oster Octane, it does it right the first time and I don't have keep going over and over and over. The swappable blades allowed me to use a 9.5mm blade I purchased seperately to get the fuzzball look I like that's between having a shaved head and longer hairs. I used the 0.5mm blade that came with the shaver to clean up around my ears. Maybe with time I'll get brave enough to do the back of my neck/head. 🤣The build quality is really good. It is easy to grip in my hand and it feels really sturdy. The cordless functionality means I can just shave my head in the shower tub before I shower, and then run the water to clump up the hair and then throw it out in the trash.Hopefully I don't have to since there are some reviews saying it lasts forever, but I would spend $375 on this again. I will never part with it and my shaver. I feel so confident when I look at my face in the mirror now. 😊

Weak Clipper!
Not powerful enough. It’s like the Oster Titan on low the entire time. Used for one haircut and returned. The Andis Pulse ZR II is where it’s at.

Bought in 2017 and its still working great.
It was expensive but the battery life is awesome. I've never had the battery die and I use it about 2x/wk. In the 6 years of ownership I've charged the battery less than a dozen times, and only do so just to top off.I've gone through 2 blades but I love the flexibility of the li-ion cordless w/ corded power. I shave my head outside to I don't make a mess in the bathroom, which was not realistic until I had this. I had another major brand cordless but the battery had a poor life and it lacked the power.Definitely would purchase again if build quality remains the same.

Great clippers for thick beards
I use these exclusively for trimming my beard. They are so powerful that my grooming time is quicker compared to my old Braun beard trimmer (none of those seem to cut evenly with a single pass). This thing takes one pass for shaping, one or two passes up my throat to set neckline, and I can even use it for body hair and fixing spotty haircuts!

Clean cut and extremely sharp
Got these for my wife's business. They are a very well made product and perform as you would expect at this price point. Two recommendations if you do purchase this item:Sometimes the clamp that holds on the guards can get reset back when you are attempting to swap out guards. You will need to keep something on hand that will allow you to reload the spring so that you can attach another guard. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.2. These clippers are extremely sharp and work well for adult haircuts. However, I recommend using something different for young children's haircuts. After the first few haircuts, my wife started using something else for children because they tend to move around a lot and these clippers very easily nick ears with their level of sharpness.
