Great add-on to any set!
I love it!It has a really cutting pitch as a timbale, great for accents and that kind of things! As a snare drum it's really articulate and dry!

OK for mini timbale, no so good for snare
The materials and construction of this drum are fine, as you'd expect for an LP product (consistently excellent in my experience). It's the sound that is the problem. For comparison, I have a Yamaha wood auxiliary snare, and a Sonor black mamba metal auxiliary snare (both 10") that I like very much. Primarily for space, I wanted something a bit smaller, hence this 8". For this LP micro snare, there are a few YOUTUBE videos with really bad microphone recordings that attempt to showcase this drum. The snare sound was poor (weak and "ratting", like you might get with a $200 kids-drum-set snare), but I attributed it to the recording quality. One video with Chris Penne sounded better so I purchased this drum. Unfortunately, the real sound was closer to the poor quality recordings (IMO). The "snare" on this drum is a series of snare wires that are attached at only one end to a rotating lever that serves as the throw off. Because the snare wires are unattached at the other end, there is quite a bit of snare sustain, something that I don't like in an auxiliary snare tuned high. Moreover, because of the design (which I knew in advance), the snare tension cannot be adjusted. It's either snares-engaged, or dis-engaged by rotating the snares out of contact with the head. The snare sound, and the sustain just don't sound good to me. I'm keeping the drum because it's a reasonable instrument as a micro timbale with the "snares" rotated out of position. I'll probably remove them altogether one day. The head that comes with the drum is rather cheap to me, so you might want to plan on replacing it with your favorite alternative.

Doesn't come with mounting rod or hardware.
had the chance to ask a question prior to purchase, "does it come with mounting hardware?" was my question "YES" was the answer. Did not come with mounting hardware as the picture suggests and rep told me. Product is otherwise as described and performs well 5 stars for the drum itself but one for the seller.

Very Cool!
I bought this for my 12 year old son for Christmas and he was thrilled!. It adds a cool pop to his kit and was very easy for him to attach.
