Best Sugar - Packed with Nutrients and health benefits
The media could not be loaded. I spent weeks researching on pure Black / Red Sugar, since I’m always interested making a traditional Chinese Ginger drink with it. It has many health benefits but one of them is ease menstrual pain and body pain in general. On the left is Muacovado Sugar which is kinda the same as this black Okinawa sugar. They’re both pure unrefined cane juice that is cooked down to a thick block / grains. Full of minerals and high in molasses, unlike store bought brown sugar (which is refined sugar and adding molasses back for uniform color). The Muscovado is dark brown (color similar to coffee ground). The Okinawa sugar block is Pure Black. Some people also call it Red Sugar due to the color of the drink which has dark brown in color with a tint of deep red. Personally, I find the darker it is, the better. Both of them tasted amazing by itself or can be used in baking. The block is particularly harder to work with, since it rocked hard (although it looks moist). You can spent hours shaving it or hit it with a hammer. Forget about using a knife to cut it up in square bocks. It’s best using the sugar block to make traditional drink. You can take out the partial melted down block at any point and reserve it for later, once you find the drink is sweet enough. The sweetness is very light almost florally. The taste is not something that can be substituted with other type if sugar.

worth it
Great product, but be aware that this product is not actually from okinawa. This is a kokuto style black sugar from Taiwan.
