Beautiful Knife, But It is Too Small for Effective Bushcraft, Too Heavy for Comfortable EDC
LikesMake no mistake, this is a very well made and beautiful knife. As with every Joker knife I’ve handled, the craftsmanship is excellent; I’ve paid much more for knives that weren’t as well made. The olive wood scales are gorgeous and they were fit perfectly to the full tang blade. The scales are smoothly contoured and well finished. The blade machining is nearly flawless. The stainless steel blade is a saber-grind with a very sharp, factory edge and usable jimping on the spine. At 0.15 inch (3.8mm) the blade is thick and, despite being a budget steel (MOVA 1.4116), substantial enough to stand up to any normal use.DislikesWhen trying to use the knife, one looks at the name “Bushcraft Erizo” and assumes it would be good for bushcraft. It isn’t, at least not for me. The blade is too short for batoning wood any larger than about 1½ inches—that limits its utility. If you’re making fire sticks, the handle may be well shaped, but it’s too short for protracted heavy use. You can use a lanyard to help, but for me, it still would only be useful as a limited backup to a primary blade. The handle size would be fine for an EDC fixed blade.Unfortunately, the blade is not a great match for EDC: it is too thick for some everyday tasks. It is less adept at slicing food or other things, although it is sturdy enough to take on cardboard boxes. But if you use it for cutting up cardboard, the budget steel will need to be frequently sharpened. However, the real downside of the thick blade is weight. The knife weighs over 4.5 ounces (130g). But, unlike a folding knife, you must have a sheath. With the sheath, the Erizo weighs 6.3 ounces (180g). That’s pretty hefty for such a small knife.A nitpick for this price range: The sheath is very nice looking, but it appears to be bonded leather. In the long run it is unlikely to be very durable.SummaryOthers reviewing this knife have given it glowing reviews, and I certainly understand why. This is a beautiful little knife with excellent craftsmanship, and it is a terrific buy for $44 USD. However, I would argue that its design is inconsistent: it’s too small for effective bushcraft; the blade is too thick for some everyday tasks; it’s too heavy to carry daily, especially for such a short blade. What is its purpose?

Not worth the money
Nice design however was not sharp when it arrived and is impossible to put an edge on this blade, would not purchase another knife from this outfit.
