Awesome!
I can remember loving my toy kitchen when I was a child. As soon as I had my daughter, I knew I would get her a play kitchen when she was two. I didn't want a kitchen that was covered with cartoon characters, and I wanted one that didn't look awful in my living room. The Kidkraft Retro Kitchen looked pretty perfect - a soft color, no advertisements, lots of activities and parts for play, not made of plastic. The kitchen was shipped in less than a week and came in one box. All parts were in perfect condition and we weren't missing any parts. My husband put the kitchen together, I organized the parts and held pieces in place when necessary. Could be put together by one person, easier with a second set of hands once in a while. It took us a little over an hour to assemble. Found the instructions pretty decent until the refrigerator - those instructions don't give enough detail as to which direction to place some parts and we accidentally installed one piece upside down. Luckily, it was easy to unscrew and flip over.I love that the fridge is a separate piece - it makes it easier to have it fit properly in your home, and also makes it easier to move this around. As that it's not plastic, it's pretty heavy and if it was one connected piece there would be no way I could carry it on my own.The majority of this kitchen is made from wood. Very smooth, even paint job over all of it. The sink is a separate piece - a plastic box that snaps into the kitchen body. This is nice because you can remove it and wipe/wash if it gets yucky (my daughter dumped her bowl of pasta in it to "wash" the bowl). The knobs on the sink spin, the stove knobs also turn and make a clicking sound. All the doors have a closure to keep them from falling open, but are easy to open and close by my two-year old. This kitchen has been a major hit - it will keep my daughter entertained for HOURS - no more begging to watch TV because she's bored with her toys! She imitates us and "washes" her hands, pretends to make food and drink and serves all her toys (and us!). We have toy cookware from a couple different brands, and they all work well with this set.The shelf below the oven is exactly the size of one of Amazon's smaller shipping boxes - we cut the tops off the box and use it like a drawer to store her play food and cookware. Thinking of covering it in aluminum foil to have it better match the kitchen, but it's perfect because she can slide it in and out, pull it out and put it on her play table, and we can pull it out, throw all the pieces in there and store them out of sight. This weekend we had my daughter's birthday and the kitchen was enjoyed by many kids ranging from two to five years. They all loved the kitchen, and the kitchen survived several rambunctious older boys. I have no complaints with this kitchen - it is all I wanted for my daughter and more!

Perfect kitchen for 18 mo. old +, cute, durable
Got this for my daughter for Christmas. She LOVES it. Spends HOURS in the corner where we put it. Great compartments, they hold her zillion or so food and cooking items. The materiel is sturdy, and it was easy to put together (according to my husband). Its wood, which I love, with some sort of enamel coating. It didn't smell funny when we got it so I don't think its overly toxic or chemically dipped. The plastic in the oven piece is a little flimsy if pushed hard, but it has held up to 4 months of 2 yr olds and 3 yr olds playing with it and hasn't even seperated from the holder piece. My girl colored on the pink parts with a crayon and a magic eraser took the crayon off without even touching the paint. The knobs all turn. I don't see a lot of point to the stickers for the thermometer on the fridge and the clock on the back, but they do make it cute. Those are really my only complaint - they're just plain paper stickers so I think they'll bite it soon. I love that the sink/oven piece isn't connected to the fridge. This allowed us to put it in an "L" configuration, which works perfectly for the area we had for it. The ones that are connected were all too big for the area (and really weren't as cute as this one anyway). This lives in our living room and I'm not THAT embarrassed to have it out here, since it really does look expensive and high quality. All in all this is an AWESOME kitchen, looks so similar to the PBK version, and is 1/7th the price. You can't go wrong with this, to be honest!

creative, longlasting investment gift from grandparents
We gave this pink kidkraft kitchen to our 2 yr old granddaughter in July for her 2nd birthday and upon the arrival of her little sister. It shipped in 2 boxes and took a couple of hours to put together, but what fun it was watching her excitement. We'd bought some play food and dishes to go with it and she immediately wanted to cook us dinner. We set it up in the play area that overflows between the kitchen and family room, so she can "cook" on her stove while "mommy" cooks and can serve "Daddy" meals at the kitchen table. She spends hours creatively playing with this kitchen set along with her shopping cart and plastic food. My daughter claims it's been a god-send gift to occupy the 2 year old while she's nursing the baby. They don't allow television viewing and highly encourage creative play and reading. We thoroughly enjoy watching our bright little granddaughter using this wonderful, sturdy, realistic gift. The dials all turn easily and doors open and close without sticking. It's the perfect height for her with room to grow. It looks so realistic with chrome faucet, that she expected water to come out when she turned the handles. Kidcraft makes other versions of play kitchens and other colors for families with mixed genders. We'd probably not gotten the pink if we'd not known baby #2 was going to be another girl, but we do love the pink for our girls. I'll probably order another one for my son's daughter. It looks very much like the Pottery Barn kitchen... but at a much better price!

Well made, good size
We bought this kitchen set for our granddaughter to play with at our house. First, there are A LOT of pieces to put together. But, if you lay them all out and follow the directions then it’ll take less time to put together. This kitchen is a great size & quality. All the doors stay shut. There is lots of storage so that food & dishes can be stored inside. All the knobs turn silently for a realistic feel. The plastic sink is removable. The cooking eyes are elevated instead of a flat sticker made to look like an eye. We put a little stick up light on the inside of the oven because she likes to look inside through the window at what she’s baking. 😍 This is by far her favorite gift. We are considering buying another one so she’ll have one at home too.
