Hands-down the best purchase I've EVER made.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! This tool has changed my life. I know that sounds dramatic, but it really has. I've spent years, at least 10 looking for an easier way to mince garlic. I hate chopping and mincing it, it's small and awkward to do and so time consuming. The jarred minced just isn't the same and doesn't offer the right flavor. This led me to leaving out garlic in my recipes, not all the garlic, just one clove instead of three, etc.I've purchased every garlic press there is, from expensive ones, self cleaning ones, easy to use, all different shapes and sizes. None of them ever worked that well and were always a complete pain to clean, even the 'self cleaning ones'. I was shopping in Amazon for a new press, chopper, something or anything to make chopping garlic easier for me so I can and want to use a good amount of garlic easily. I came across this little amazing thing. I'm SO glad I purchased this. This chopper is small and compact, fits perfectly in my drawer. It opens easily and fits one large clove or two smaller cloves in it at a time. You just roll this bad baby back and fourth until you are satisfied with the size of the garlic, open the top and dump into your recipe. I give it a little tap on the edge of the bowl and most of the garlic falls in. Whatever is left can usually just scraped out with a small dinner spoon. Once I'm done I just open the top and rinse with a drop of dish detergent inside, close it up shake it around, then rinse thoroughly. I put it the strainer to open to dry. About once a week I open it all the way after use, remove the blades and wash the inside with a soapy sponge. I find that it doesn't really need to throughly washed with every use as long as you rinse with hot soapy water right away. I always peel my garlic before use so there isn't any skin to get caught up inside the device. Others may feel differently and do a thorough wash every time, to each their own. I wouldn't recommend putting it in the dishwasher, just because of the rubber on the wheels may be compromised and I'm positive that it would turn opaque or not as see-through after a few washes. I like to be able to cleaner see how big/small the garlic is.Pros:Extremely easy to useEasy to fill and remove chopped garlicChops very well and quicklyVery easy to cleanAffordableCons:The roller can be a bit hard to get going and jam-up a bit sometimesChops garlic in a rustic way, won't do a tiny minceA lot of the garlic gets stuck at the top during rolling - see below on how to deal with thisHowever, none of cons should stop anyone from buying, just wanted to note them. For the difficult roller I will just put a towel down to give it more grip to start the rolling process, usually once I'm rolling it all good. The garlic being chopped in a rustic way is something I don't mind, but maybe others will. For the garlic that sticks to the top while rolling I just gently tap the roller on my counter to knock it all down then start rolling again, problem solved.Lastly, a tip to getting the most garlic out with the first dump; I turn the unit upside down and give it a few gentle taps on a folded towel and most of the garlic will be in the top area that pops open, just open and dump. Make sure to be gently, I could see this cracking very easily.Buy this garlic chopper! You will not be disappointed. Hands-down the best purchase I've EVER made.

Piece of Junk - Poor Design
This is a piece of junk. The lid fell off (the hinge posed loose) the first time I opened it and I can't get it to stay on. My recommendation to you - find another manufacturer for this, you'll be happier (I have used other ones made by other manufacturers and they are much better quality).

The whole thing is sturdy and well made
I have the small one that larger piece may not fit in. It's also a bit tricky to start chopping because the big garlic will stop the blade. Get a bigger one or cut the garlic first into two pieces. But I prefer the small one. For the big ones, I just need more momentum to get the first cuts. The mechanism works well. I used the wheel on uneven tile top. The wheels hug the tile well, except when the tiles are a little wet. You can run the wheels on your palm, but big garlic will initially jam the small chopper and make it hard to get started. I have a runway of 1 to 2 ft to get the initial cuts. The whole thing is sturdy and well made. I use a lot of momentum to run the wheels initially, and then to get finer cuts in a short time. I also bang the thing a lot to return garlic pieces back to the center of the blades.Tips: I open the top lid, turn the thing upside down and turn the wheels gently to get the garlic out directly onto the food or pan. And then store the thing in the fridge until next time. Some say garlic is an antibiotic, and I checked that indeed it is used to preserve food. So I don't wash the chopper, at least not every time. Together with the rock and roll garlic peeler, out garlic consumption goes way up.I hate garlic press.

Buy a good garlic press instead
I read lots of great reviews of this garlic chopper, but I was unimpressed. I am used to the oxo garlic press which I love. The GalicZoom chops garlic instead of pressing it which is nice, but I found the process of getting all the bits of garlic out of the GarlicZoom a challenging messy process. With the garlic press I just squeeze the handle and the pressed garlic just comes out of the press without me having to dig around to get it out. Buy a good garlic press instead.

Cool little gadget. Gets the job done.
After seeing the reviews I decided to go with this product vs a traditional garlic press. I was amazed at how well the garlic was chopped! I would recommend purchasing the larger version for sure. Especially if you plan to put other things in here like onions, or spices (which I’ve noticed you can also chop in here). Sometimes getting the garlic out is a little tricky but other then that I give this product five stars. I use it every time I need garlic.

A Little Disappointing to Use
I find the Chef'n GarlicZoom Garlic Chopper easy to load with garlic. It it is easy to roll it to make it chop up the garlic. What I don't like is that is does not uniformly chop the garlic. It produces a mix of small to very large chunks. Rolling it longer to chop up the garlic more does NOT improve the uniformity of size for the chopped garlic. It is very hard to get all the chopped garlic out of the Chef'n GarlicZoom Garlic Chopper. I take it apart and wash it in the dishwasher top shelf, but it is not easy to do so. I find that when I am cooking, I usually reach for my other garlic chopper that is easier to use, easier to clean and produces a consistently sized chop.

Works so well I bought it twice
Bought this to replace an old one. His wheels didn't have any tread left, and there was a little spot of crud I couldn't get to to clean no matter how hard I tried. New one is great. I don't use tons of garlic, so it should last another 10 years or however long I had the first one. I tried the peeler and didn't find it helpful, but I might give it another try. Maybe I'm just not using it right. I only needing the zoomy part, though, so good to go.

Better than a press
I'm now on my second GarlicZoom and they're excellent, having originally had one as a gift. The reason I like these better than a press is that the whole clove is all chopped up, whereas with the press a thin outer skin is left behind in the press, so you get a lot more garlic out of a clove. I also prefer the texture of it chopped than squeezed. Easy to get the garlic out with a knife and also easy to wash, you can just run it under a tap.A couple of tips. If you've just retrieved your GarlicZoom from the washing up bowl to use, run it up and down your leg rather than the counter top (the wheels don't grip the counter when damp). And try and get into the habit of chopping the cloves in half first, as this will help look after the blades. I jammed a few huge cloves in mine and the blades bent slightly as I was trying to force it!

Chopping garlic cloves in seconds.
Fantastic little gadget in chopping garlic cloves... Makes life a lot easier and safer (I don't have to worry about cutting myself). You have to be aware though that the cutting blades are detachable and can be easily lost, which has happened to me, but minor issue.Dishwasher safe and looking quite funky...what more do you want?

Brilliant item, wouldn't be without one.
Brilliant item that I can't say enough good things about. Easy to use, easy to clean and no garlic smell on your fingers. You don't get that bit of garlic that won't press through the holes of a garlic crusher. It chops all the garlic very finely and fingers are safe. Just peel the garlic, cut into half or quarter pieces then put into the chopper and roll the wheels. Within seconds it is chopped into tiny pieces. I've also used it on ginger. Please don't buy the cheaper ones as they are rubbish! If you use garlic/ginger a lot then this is worth the money.

Can't live without it
I absolutely love garlic, but I used to loathe having to chop it up because I'm useless at it! This little gadget has completed solved my problem and I'm delighted with how well it works and saves an awful lot of time.
