Is it worth the price? Yes.
So given that most dried powders are considerably less expensive than $30 a pound (based on price at time I wrote this. I mean, a high quality steak is typically half that!), I decided to address the price and why it's worth that much.First of all, most (all?) of the dried porcini products I've seen, whether whole or in powder form, cost even more per pound. The reason is simple: dried mushrooms weigh a small fraction of fresh mushrooms. Thus, at some point, this pound of dried, powdered mushrooms was MANY pounds of fresh mushrooms, thus the reason for the high price.Okay, issue one explains WHY it cost so much, but issue 2 is, is it worth the price?Yes. The reason is that it is PACKED with umami flavor. Sure, you can get "mushroom seasoning" from Asia that is made from shiitake and salt for a much lower price, why not just buy that? Well, you SHOULD buy that...AND this. They are actually very different products.This mushroom powder is NOT salted, it's just pure mushroom powder. That means you need to add salt if you want to use this as a rub or in an injection, but it also means you can add as much mushroom flavor to something as you want without worrying about the salt content. Also, it's porcini powder, and porcini mushrooms have a strong flavor that is unique and wonderful and, to be frank, superior to the flavor of most (maybe all) other mushrooms, including the shiitake.Add this to soups (especially french onion or a cheese soup, wow what a difference), sauces, gravies, salad dressings, dry rubs, or injections for meats...you will not be disappointed. Also, you don't need much. A tablespoon goes a long way, and adds a lot of incredible flavor, so even if it is expensive "per pound" it's actually quite reasonable per meal. I would recommend cooking it though, that does bring the flavor out and gives it a better texture, that would include if you use it in a sauce or salad dressing, it just comes out better that way.Bottom line: This is an incredibly versatile ingredient that makes almost anything better, if you want to add a whole lot of umami without adding additional salt, this is the single best way to do it.

No gravel or grit!
Pre ground works for me. Breathing mushroom dust bad.This product adds a brown gravy vibe in soup and thickens the stock a bit.

Excellent flavor and quality.
This tastes and smells fantastic. The texture is consistent and it's easy to use. We add it to recipes to give it a bit more of a mushroomy taste and also for the nutritional benefits. Keep it in an airtight bag in the freezer and it will last a very long time.

This mushroom change my health to the best being rich in ergothioneineI start care and search the results was blood sugar ,cholesterol blood viscosity heart issues they all became more stable, now I am taking other types of mushroom like oyster lions mane and many more all rich in ergothioneine and I feel much better and healthy, I highly recommended it for every one as it is safe benificial affordable and delicious

Good flavor, but a little gritty
When I learned the health benefits of these mushrooms, I decided to incorporate into my cooking. Being my first experience with dried mushroom powder, I don't have anything to compare it to. I have only sprinkled over fried eggs so far. The taste is earthy but mild. Nothing exciting, but not offensive either. It tastes/feels a little gritty to me, like maybe a bit of dirt/sand got mixed in. The texture should be okay in soups or stews where you wouldn't notice the gritty texture as much. The packaging is sturdy, but once opened, there is no way to reseal. Compared to other brands, this was the best value I found; but, if you don't mind spending a little more, you might find a better product without the gritty texture. This package should last us a long time.

Mushroom Heaven.
Can't begin to describe the joy I've had in my mouth over the last month.I bought this to make my own mushroom-salt and because of the product quantity (and my propensity for saving small jars) I've been able to experiment with a several combinations.I have used them as a dry rub on several types of meat - beef, pork and lamb (OMG, the lamb was sooo good).I have used it in several sauces as well and it adds as much or as subtle a flavor as you desire. I cook with lots of fresh mushrooms but have (mostly) had to rely on dried porchinis. This gives me so much more flexibility and also eliminates those annoying complaints from the mushroom haters.I love knowing that I have this in my kitchen arsenal - and will always want to have it on hand.TREMENDOUS value.

It's more flower than mushrooms
I bought this with high hope. However after adding it to spaghetti sauce and soups and get very little mushroom flavor but the sauce or soup got thicker, I knew this was a bust. However this company does offer great dried mushrooms.

High quality product. Definitely the right stuff...
This is the secret ingredient for any good, homemade mushroom bisque or soup. Nice, smokey flavor and strong mushroom enhancement flavor for any other combo of mushrooms you may want to use for your dishes.
