Read anything by Hierotheos Vlachos first such as "Orthodox Psychotherapy" or "A night in the Desert of Holy Mountain" or any of his other books, then move to this book.

It is a method not familiar among the Western Priesthood. Of value here.

I sent this book to my cousin and he said it was the best book ever. He calls it his guide to life now. I am so pleased with my choice. Life changing.

I have read lots of books on the Prayer of the Heart but this one alone makes me strive to a higher level. It has motivated me to take a trip to Mt Athos.

This is a beautiful translation of a deeply spiritual work. Father George Dokos has captured the essence of this ancient text. I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone interested in prayer of the heart.

This book was written through the spirit of christ in practice and not drawn from reason or wit. The practitioner will find solace here and enough to stay resolute.

Excellent resource on the power of the Jesus prayer and the English translation is very readable. Amazingly readable book considering it was written so many years ago.

The author is a holy monk, but his personal writing style and content was not as spiritually beneficial for me as, for instance, St. Isaac the Syrian or any other of the church fathers. But what can you expect?I believe this is a good introductory book for a spiritual reader and pursuer of holiness in preparation for the church fathers.
