Great binoculars
I looked at several pairs of binoculars and after reading different specs decided to purchase the Viking Peregrine Binoculars. Since my purchase I haven’t been disappointed with the quality and style.

Big clean colorful unfussy view though occasional purple fringing even centrally.
Haven't had these long enough to get a good try out with them but from what I can see already & comparing them with some of my other decent bins I'm going to get along with these just fine if the CA doesn't get to me which it probably won't, hopefully.Purple edging occasionally, more than any of my other binoculars so I notice it easily. Focus is a tiny bit spongy with a small amount of slackness but overall these seem very nice & well made, pretty compact and not to heavy, plus comfortable to hold and easy eye placement. Bag is basic. Strap good quality. Lense covers fine. Well packaged.Main thing is nice big (6.7 deg fov) relaxed & colourful view, good right to the edges. View sort of beats my Nikon M7 10x30 with more colour mainly and a bit more light from the larger 42mm objectives & not much larger or heavier but the Monarch is pretty tiny & basically lacks much fringing so swings and roundabouts. Both surprisingly easy to use especially the Monarch & I still like the small Monarch. It seems the Peregrine gains some colour in exchange for more fringing but the colour boost, extra light intake etc seems to show some more detail on birds than with the smaller Monarch.I like them both and the Peregrine view can be very nice if you can switch off from fringing alert. If some purple fringing doesn't bother you then no problem at all.Detail at 10x is good as for me are all other aspects. Colour seems very saturated in sunny light with neutral or maybe very slightly yellow/blue bias. It's sort of cheerfully colourful which is nice. If it had lower CA I'd like them more and maybe a smidgen more contrast & tighter focus but I still think they are worth keeping as a good overall package and I've returned Leica, Swaro and Zeiss compacts recently with all sorts of bigger problems with them but I did keep a Zeiss 8x25 Victory Pocket (returned a terra 10x25) as it is rather good. Also kept a Pentax 4x20 as quite an unusual and enjoyable little binocular (that can be transformed into a scope but the scope is not very good) and now this Peregrine is added to the growing hoard. I do like it as a change from my other bins or to have one good distance bin but for easier general viewing I still prefer 8x. I also bought an Opticron Adventure 6.5x32 and while relatively cheap is pretty similarly impressive as this Peregrine but less than 1/4 the price so that was a find.If I find anything significant after longer use I may return to this review. Sorry I could not give 5 stars but they seem definitely to be a good 4 star, it's just that bit of purple fringing that seems more than I normally see in my other bins and I hate purple fringing but it doesn't seem always to be a problem so that's a relief. Also from what I'm seeing so far the contrast is not as good as I would like. This binocular is mainly about light and colour and has more contrast if the eyecups are raised or if you are not out in strong light but again some of my other bins do much better for contrast which makes the view look sharper so I would sacrifice some of the colour for more contrast if that was an option. I've discovered also that it's pretty good for butterfly watching at a few meters so it has good versatility. The eye relief seems decent but I don't wear glasses so cannot comment on their suitability there but I think the longer eye relief of the 8x42 Peregrine would be the better choice in that situation.Edit: ok so no change with the 10x42 but I did then buy (not on Amazon) the 8x32 Peregrine and that is 5 star but less eye relief than the 10x42. It also has less fringing, more contrast so seems sharper and superb glare resistance so I like both but I wish the 10x42 had more of the strengths of the 8x32 which I think is a really impressive little binocular & if I had to chose one it would have to be the 8x32. I now wonder if something is wrong with my 10x but it may just be the higher magnification to blame?

Absolutely Stunning Clarity - 5 Stars All Day Long
The visuals on these binoculars are stunning. The brightness is well worth the extra price tag for the Peregrine model. A huge bonus is the light 600g, which makes a big difference over a day in the field. I'm extremely happy with these Peregrines. Especially as I wear glasses and enjoy the easily retractable eye covers. Absolutely a 5-star pair of binoculars at the price.

Dioptre adjustment ring has started moving in normal use.
These are nice binoculars but after months of satifaction suddenly the Dioptre adjustment ring is moving in normal use. Very annoying to have to adjust it constantly. For £325 I expected better.

Excellent value
I bought these binoculars for a friend but checked them first and they compared very well with my own HD binoculars. The big difference was that I acquired them for half the price.
