Does just what I needed.
This is the first labeling machine I've ever owned, and I'm very happy with it. I have hundreds of CDs in jewel cases that need labeling so that I can organize them and the PT-2030 is perfect for this task. It has a specific setting just for printing labels for a jewel case spine, which is perfect for what I need. I bought a 1/4" (6mm) tape cartridge for the jewel case labels and the printing is very clear and legible. I've printed a couple dozen so far and not a bad label yet. The cartridge was super easy to install: just lift the lid and pop in the cartridge. Setup of the machine was quick and easy right out of the box. There is even a tape cartridge included to get you started. No batteries included though. I wish the display was back lit to make reading it easier, but that's not enough of a problem to knock off a star. Some reviewers have complained about the amount of tape these Brother printers use before and after the actual printed text, but I don't mind as this has worked out pretty well for my purpose. It uses just enough tape to almost cover the entire spine of a jewel case, which looks much better in my opinion. There is also a setting for printing labels to attach to cables for better wire management behind a computer or home theater setup. I haven't tried that setting yet, but I'm looking forward to printing those labels next. This is a really nice labeling machine at a reasonable price, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to buy one.

Only worked 2 months
I gave my old one to my son and kept this one. I had the old one for 7 yrs., never had a problem & loved it. The new one did not come with a charge cord but I always used batteries so that was ok. Today I printed 1 label and then it wouldn’t print & “check batteries” appeared. I removed the old batteries and inserted new ones. It still didn’t work. Looked at the battery connections and 1 of them looks damaged. This was really expensive compared to the two I ordered as Christmas gifts 4 years ago. It cost almost 3 times as much. So disappointed. I have ordered a charge cord but would rather use batteries.

Old merchandise, leaking batteries.
The media could not be loaded. Update: The last photo is what I found when I opened the box. Batteries in the battery compartment were leaking, and obviously had been for some time. This WILL be returned.Box is obviously old and taped together. Due to the condition of the box, I am writing this before I open it. I will update after I try it, but the packaging is rather suspicious.

very cool label maker.
it works very well, and the labels stay stuck on whatever you put them on. I had an old label maker and the labels started falling off. not with this one. you can use it on many surfaces and if you buy some wider tape it will label two lines. I really like that. there are a lot of people having huge snits about the amount of wasted label making tape. there are ways to get around the waste. there is a method in the directions, but Jennifer McGuire also has a video on utube telling how to easily get around it. its easy to follow and start using. she has many u tube videos on organization for craft rooms. and this is her favorite label maker. this was really worth the investment.

Works well but eats batteries.
This is a pretty nice model of label maker, but I do recommend buying either the version which includes the AC adapter or purchasing the adapter separately. You will spend more than the cost of the adapter in batteries very quickly. I do wish that these label machines would default to using the minimum amount of extra tab. It wastes so much extra label by default, and messing with the settings never really got it exactly how I wanted.

Love it.
I use this labeler as an outlet for my OCD. :) But seriously, its great to use around the house to keep things organized. It works great, is easy to use, has lots of features, and I think its priced reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

Dim LCD screen - wastes tape
With contrast setting full up...good luck trying to see the screen...maybe wear a headlight when using it....Also, Each label printed...has over a full inch of blank at the start, and another wasted inch at the end....Expensive to replace...soooo much unnecessary waste... : - (

Good labels - but does waste a lot of tape
I agree with the reviewers here - good label maker but does waste a lot of tape. I think that it is really designed to daisy chain a bunch of labels together for printing. If you print one or two here and there - you either need to put up with the waste or find another label maker. On the very positive side - lots of great options for making labels including multiple lines, different font sizes, etc. I'm very impressed with the flexibility. I haven't tried the weather resistance of the labels - but the durability should be an added bonus.UPDATE:So about two months in I have learned a bit more about the product and how to minimize waste. Printing one label at a time does waste a lot of tape. To minimize waste, best to have a standard size that you want to print labels and set it to chain them together. For example, I have set it to make 1.3" labels for my hardware bins and then chained them together. It is a bit of a pain and I would rather Brother make it easier to cut labels with minimal waste, it is a workable solution. I still give it three stars and recommend it given those caveats.
