The strainer has been updated and is awesome
Update:I have now purchased a second one because my original one kept getting borrowed. The strainer has been updated again to allow even more flow (and it still doesn't feel flimsy). Looking at the reviews and pictures through time, it looks like the changes to the product have been to improve quality/use, and not to squeeze out more profit, which means I probably don't need to keep shopping around "just in case"--I am very pleased. Also, to be clear, it can get hot to hold, but not to the point where I can't hold it. I could carry it around while brewing even herbal teas (brewed with boiling water) and not be in pain. I'd just prefer to put it down while that's going on.Original:Let's get the not-perfect stuff out of the way: It's heavy. I know that's not usually a desirable trait in bottles, but it is substantial enough to not feel like it's going to break on every tink, but not so heavy that I don't want to pick it up and drink from it. It also gets quite hot to hold initially; It's not vacuum insulated, and you can feel it. It cools down to a temperature where I can handle it before my tea is cooled enough to sip comfortably, so, since I'm not using this as a run-around bottle, it's not a problem for me. If you're hoping to use it on-the-go, I'd be iffy recommending it, especially without a sleeve and comfortable carrying handle. Now to the better points: It doesn't leak, and it holds more than I expected. I'm not speaking in terms of measurements (I have not measured). I can drink longer between refills from it than I would have visually expected from having lost volume to the double-wall nature, and noticeably longer than from a 16oz Contigo, which I did not expect, since I don't fill this bottle to the brim.My favorite part: The strainer actually works! I bought this thinking that the strainer would go into the miscellaneous kitchen stuff box and never come back out, but I gave it a shot once it arrived and I noticed that it has been updated and now has a release mechanism. Instead of forcing it in and out of place each time, you squeeze the ends of the retention clip, and the bumps on the side of the strainer retract. Once in place, you release the ends, and it holds the strainer in snugly, forming a nice seal around the edge. The holes are quite fine, but they do not impede liquid flow enough to notice when drinking. If you're hoping to put the tea in the basket and invert the bottle to steep, you may be disappointed, since the clip does extend into the body of the basket. I will try update my review with a photo when I get a chance.Overall, I highly recommend this bottle if you're looking to use it the way I do--sitting down somewhere. It streamlines my process: drop in tea (less than you'd normally use for 18 oz--the tea stays in the bottle, so just let it steep longer to get strong enough), rinse the tea and bottle with hot water, dump that out (tea stays in because of the strainer!) fill it up with the correct temperature water (important. too hot, and you'll get bitter tea), put the lid on, and take a to my desk or a meeting. Top off/refill as needed, or when the opportunity presents itself. Be happy with tea all day without overloading on caffeine.

Overall Good Product
Pros: Relatively cheap for a large double-wall glass design. Metal filter is good as hold back most of the tea debris and easily snaps into place with a loud CLICK (so you know it's in the right position). Cap is actually quite pretty with a high-gloss piano black finish. Feels sturdy and glass feels thick.Cons: Interior rubber seal keeps popping out when opening the cap - sticks to glass rim (though this could be considered a pro too since it's easy to take the seal out and wash it = mold prevention). Some people may not want the thermal leakage.Other thoughts: Agree with other reviewers on the double-wall design, there is a little bit of heat loss such that the outside wall does get slightly warm, but it's not a big deal at all and even feels nice on a cold day. Would like maybe another rubber seal incase the one provided gets dirty moldy, but I have that request with all my soft rubber seal items like glass tupperware.Final Rating: A - it's good quality for the money, especially given Sun Tea's rebate which makes the price very affordable, would recommend to anyone looking for a glass tea strainer

I think this is a great tea maker
For the price, I think this is a great tea maker. I just got back from China and brought a bunch of green and oolong teas with me and having fun using this convenient tea maker in my office. The Basket:The teas I drink require that you only steep for a short period of time and you keep the leaves dry in between. The strainer basket works well for that as long as you snap it in place. After you snap it in, I can shake it all I want and it doesn't move or allow tea (other than minor tea dust) to get through. It's so strong that I can hold up the entire container by the handle of the set tea basket. The Glass:The double wall glass isn't the strongest, most efficient but it's good. Looks good, feels good, and keeps the drink reasonably cold or hot. It works a bit better than most of my insulated, stainless steel coffee bugs but not quite as good as a true vacuum wall stainless steel thermos. The Lid:The lid is really pretty and fits fairly well. There is a rubber seal that must be pushed in to the cap. I have put the lid on once or twice where it leaked a little but once I pushed that seal in made sure to tighten evenly, it doesn't leak, even under steaming hot water (which most things do leak due to steam pressure).Overall construction and usage:I think this looks and feels great (heavy, rounded). The lip edge spills a tiny bit due to the more rounded edge but nothing that bothers me too much. It's very easy to use and clean. So far I m very happy with this, I am going to buy more as gifts.
