Ignite Enthusiasm for Wonderful Words
My 7yo son LOVES LOVES LOVES this book. He's already a brainy, enthusiastic reader - and this flip book of illustrated words and suggested usage has just lit another fire in his brain as it relates to vocabulary and story telling. What I love is that it combines a page-a-day style (it is top spiral bound), it stands up on its own, and the corresponding pages to the word illustrations show how else to use these wonderful words. This would make a wonderful gift for any precocious child!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!
We used to be homeschoolers, and now my kids go to public school. I wanted a quick and easy way to get in a little more fun learning while they are home with me. My boys LOVE the pictures on here. They really enjoy looking through, laughing at the pictures and then using the words to describe each other, friends or us (their parents). Worth every penny! BTW - my kids are 8 and 10.

The kids love it.
I am not a Tiger Mom. I don't think "getting ahead" in education is important. (That's different from learning, and from enjoying the richness of the English language. As a university professor, I have seen too many students who have been damaged by parents who have mistaken "cramming" for "learning.") So this isn't normally something I would consider. But it sits in our kitchen and I think we must be on our third or fourth cycle running through it a word a day. The kids love it, they enjoy the illustrations, and they recognize and use the words they see in it.My only complaint is the lack of a sequel. If you have little people around your house, you should have this.

Highly Engaging
My students love this book!! They are so eager to turn the page each day and see the new word and illustration. It’s a great way to add fun words to our everyday classroom conversations, too!

Great for Visual Learners
I'm surprised by some of the bad reviews for this Storyteller's Word a Day. It's not perfect, but I think it is a fun way for younger kids to learn some new words. My son is a visual learner, so the pictures were a key to getting him interested in a word a day format. They also help support learning the meaning of the words.I like that the words are chosen based on being words that might be found in literature, so that being familiar with these words might help with reading comprehension down the road. As an adult who read a lot as a child and has a large vocabulary, these words weren't new to me but there are a mix of more common and ones that aren't usually heard in everyday conversation. I think the 4-8 age range might be a little off, and I would say 5 or 6 into teens would be more appropriate. The paper isn't unusally thin, but you do need to take a bit of care with a flip format so that pages don't tear out. We have had one page fall out so far after going through about half the book and then starting over and going through a little over half. That is with a 7 year old doing almost all of the page flipping. He likes the page a day format and is excited to flip a page every day, and that is really what I was looking for in a product like this.

excellent
Gave it to my grandchildren. It's on their kitchen counter and they are using it and increasing their vocabularies. It defines the age appropriate word and has great illustrations to help understanding. On the back of the page, it gives lots of examples of using the word . They use each page for a few days giving them a better chance to understand the word and put it to daily use.

Works!
I have a 9 and 11 yr old. They love to flip the page every day. They read it to me and we try to use the word in silly ways to help them rember the new vocab. Great pictures and explanation of the words. My husband and I enjoy it, too.

Brilliant
My children wake up excited to flip a page and they have learned so many words! The illustrations are fun and entertaining and I feel like they are helping them memorize the definition when they visualize the pictures and associate.
