Q: I'd like to just leave this on a kitchen table. Can the "hanging" part be removed?

This planter doesn't have brackets or other fixtures. Brackets are sold separately. The planter can be put on any surface.

no! This is very misleading. They are an extra £20! Don’t buy!

Q: Do you put the plant substrate in the bottom then your own compost on top?

For this product, pour the plant substrate into the base of the liner that is provided inside the kit. You then need to add your soil or potting compost on top of the layer of the substrate. Insert the plant and place any remaining soil around the cavities. Compact the soil with light tapping or by pressing with your fingers.

Q: Before I send these back, is there a way of attaching these items to a balcony railing? One of pictures in the post is somewhat misleading...

I don't know, we have them on a small wall low to the ground
