THESE BUTT PADS ARE THE BOMB!!!
These are the BOMB!! These were purchased for my daughter that flat tracks on a junior roller derby team that mostly skates on polished concrete floors.Prior to these she was wearing the standard butt pads that resembled bike shorts with bubble wrap inside, somewhat protective, low profile and not that noticeable under the typical "bootie shorts" or short skirts/bike shorts commonly worn. We were new to the sport when they were recommended (and even though they sadly are no longer required safety equipment - which I obviously disagree with - and MANY girls are not using butt pads at all) they were better than nothing. When I spotted the triple 8s online I KNEW I wanted my tween wearing these, but how to convince her of cushion over fashion??Much to my surprise - after reading all the pros (great trail bone coverage, hip & leg pads, longer legs which equaled more protected area and no creating up into the crotch area) and the cons (pads are thicker) which is ALSO a pro (pads are THICKER = better protection) to her ... SHE was sold.Read all the reviews and purchased a size larger than I thought my daughter would wear with some reservations that she wouldn't like the way the look. (I'm not kidding - it's a sport she loves - but this kid is REALLY all about how she looks!!)They arrived and fit well - not too tight - not too loose. The pads were much thicker than I expected - they looked just like the photos - but those that had reviewed were saying they were much too thin and not as pictured. Humm??So here's my girl putting on these bubble butt, butt pads, that I was sure she would take one look at and reject ... and this BIG GRIN spreads across he face and she says, " OMG mom, these feel SOOO good and if I go down in these it's not going to hurt!" SOLD!!She wears them ALWAYS! Under shorts, skirts and tutus and has taken several bad falls - but her BUTT PADS have not disappointed.Several mom's and referees have asked wear we got them ... Amazon (of course).Girls junior derby is an awesome sport - they work really hard - they go down on that concrete REALLY HARD - they deserve the protection of these pads.

Super helpful for staying confident during training sessions. Not perfect, but pretty good
I've used these for ice skating and park skating. Great for helping me feel safe really pushing myself during training and making riskier moves. While park skating, these have definitely been extremely helpful for cushioning falls but due to the more dramatic falls their impact is reduced. I've noticed that they lack sufficient protection in a couple spots around my hips, which is really unfortunate because they're great in other areas and I kept falling in the same place on my hips :(Overall pretty good, but if you have a more feminine body shape around your waist and hips, I would definitely recommend getting the Triple Eight RD Bumsavers. They fit a female waist SIGNIFICANTLY better, though they're much shorter so lack outer thigh protection that this model provides.

The Bumsaver pants fit easily under sweatpants and scrub type pants
Thanks to other Amazon customers I made the purchase based on their reviews--fit, comfort, protection. At age 72 with a hip replacement and facing more surgery I looked at a number of these "crash" pants. These pants have the padding exactly where the impact would be on a side fall, on the lateral (outside) side of the hip and leg to the knee), the highest impact areas. The rump and coccyx are well padded.. The pads are separated to allow for flexibility in movement. With a long tee shirt you can wear these crash pants alone. The Bumsaver pants fit easily under sweatpants and scrub type pants. I wear a size 14 pant/trouser. An Amazon respondent to my sizing question told me the medium would fit with a bit of snugness and the large would fit well too. I choose the large. Excellent choice, stays in place, however, comfortable to wear including sitting down. Suitable for year round protection, so for snow, ice, dog walking, a bit of hiking, these crash pants are suitable for a walking, jogging, fall. Now, falling while rollerblading, skiing, and sports that add velocity to a fall, I cannot speak to.

Great skate pads
Bought these for a friend, found them on sale thankfully. We have been searching for a good pair of skate pants with good padding for quite some time, buying several different pairs and ultimately being unsatisfied. These have padding in all the right places. He has taken a couple slams since purchase and these have minimized the impact and trauma to his hip, which is what we were looking for. They can be washed on a gental cycle and dryed on a delicate cycle, though I normally try to hang dry them so the pads don't fall apart over time. You don't have to remove the pads to wash them, which is a huge plus for me. Was fighting with other shorts trying to remove pads and it was always stressful. Thankfully not these. I recommend these shorts to beginners and advanced skaters that don't want their hips torn up on a slam. Good for concrete bowls and vert.

These have saved my butt... literally!
Been skating for about a year, also I'm old. I wish I had known this product was around before I skated my first ramp. I went down hard on my hip and was left bleeding and bruised. These would have prevented or lessened the injury. They hide pretty well under shorts or pants, they are comfortable and the padding is nice. I wish there was more padding on the tailbone area and in a couple of other crucial spots but it's essential gear. I think I might try some other brands with a different padding set up but they do work, so you won't go wrong.I wear them whenever I'm trying something new or hitting the skate park. Gives me confidence and helps lessen the pain if I do fall.
