Testors Amazing Air Airbrush Paint kit, 13 Piece Set, Multicolor

This is my 2nd Testors - my son-in-law gave me his as a gift and when I saw that I could get one with acrylic paint I jumped on it. It works great. I am an artist that does small miniature paintings called ACEO's (2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches the size of a playing card) on eBay and decided to try airbrushing - this works so well for the small work and my customers have really been buying my small airbrush works.

Never did airbrushed painting before? START HERE. I've been using Testors enamel paints for decades. I've been building models since I was 10 years old. And, I've had a collection of Testors paints on my work bench since I was 15. However, I've always brush painted all my projects. Did you know that Rustoleum now owns Testors????? I didn't. But, that's just all the more reason to be confident with this set. I'm building a very fine scale, intricate 1/350 model of the Titanic, with LOTS of photo-etched brass replacement parts that are so tiny and delicate that brush painting will NOT work. Airbrushing is the only answer. And, this Testors set is a great way to find out if you have a skill for this method without making any major investment into more professional equipment, like compressors and complicated applicators that need a lot of maintenance. It comes with five bottles of paint, five draw tubes, five airbrush attachment caps and everything else you will need to do this job. I would still recommend researching thinners and cleaners to compliment this set. But, otherwise, it's a great start. Five stars.

It worked really good. Wish propellant lasted longer

Purchased this recently. I feel it's more fitted to a few uses, or just one time use for air brushing. You do out grown it quickly to look into a more fitted air brush that will allow more control for scale models but does a great job over larger areas or doing a whole model.Pros:Cheap way of doing an air brush effect over brush.Somewhat Easy to use and will get to that in the Cons.Decent pressure, but you have to keep doing 3-5 air brush strokes and pacing.Probably more fitted to a few uses. The 1 can is more than enough for me to do one model.Cons:Connector to top is very weak, I feel I lost more pressure trying to securely connect.It would have been nice to include an empty paint bottle. It was impossible to get any air brush right from opening the paint. I had to use an empty one, mix a small amount of paint and connect it. Worked great at that point.Gets clogged easy, I had to routinely switch out spray caps and keep a little cup of water next to me to throw them in as I painted.The can of air isn't cheap. You can probably do one project or a bit more on a 1/35 scale but would need more air after that.Overall, I felt this was an Okay purchase. I don't regret it and it made me more comfortable air brushing to look into a more long term item to use since I loved the look compared to paint brushing on the model. I feel they should include an empty jar or two for paint and wish the connector as more easy to place on without wasting any air. Again, I feel this is something more fit to a one time use or possibly two times as the can of air and routine will quickly out weight a $60-$80 air brush system.

Read both pro and con reviews for this. This is my first airbrush, ever. After reading some of the negative reviews I went ahead and made sure the nozzles where open by running the cleaning wire through them- You know- because their plastic and you almost always get "burrs" in openings. Used the paint that came with the kit- Did not just jump to my model paint I use with brushes. NEED PRACTICE...……..Lots. Decided to buy paint for airbrushes since the ratio of thinner to paint could vary. To me worth it. Save my brush paint for fine details and cockpits. Overall, very happy with it and looking forward to using it more.

Getting it to even spray was challenging and then could never get it to spray a nice cover. Absolute junk. Spend the money and buy a quality air brush. This is not it.

This is a very complete item. The only thing I would add to it would be an Acrylic Cleaner to clean up after. Although, everything is here for the beginner to start learning, even a flame style stencil. This is a low cost way to get started airbrushing or an inexpensive way as a portable unit so you don't need a pump. For model railroading this unit works very well, with great control and coverage. It's not as great as a unit you can change needle sizes but for models the small paint bottles help prevent waist.
