Smart Pots 3-Gallon Smart Pot Soft-Sided Container, Black

I used to live in a tiny apartment in NYC. I used to grow vegetables on my window but i would use cheap plastic pots. I started searching for alternatives that would make it easier for me to handle and better for my plants. I always worried about the pots draining properly and worried about the plants getting root bound.I decided to try these pots out because it reminds me of a bigger version of a peat pod, and i love peat pods! (Small fabric pellets with soil in the middle) These pots are made out of fabric. They are soft,flexible, but they aren't flimsy. It retains its shape perfectly once it has soil in it.The lovely thing about it is that the soil never gets packed tightly and stays nice and loose.. I appreciate that because i think it aerates the soil. Watering is especially easier for me in my now small home. I purchased the ones with the handles and they are easy to carry my house plants to the sink, to water and back once it's done draining.It drains quickly through the fabric and i don't have to worry about wet roots!I'm hoping to start some blueberries and strawberries in one of the bigger pots and seeing how well they do. I intend to also grow potatoes in one of the bigger pots too. You can use these bags for alot of plants!I love these pots and they are the only kind of bots i purchase now.They aren't too stylish but you could do stuff to make them look cute or fit the into decor... IF you really need to, you could easily slide a smartpot inside of a bigger decorative pot and enjoy the aeration and other benefits of these pots and still look good!I would get the ones with the handles to make it easier to move around.I love these pots and i highly recommend these!

Bought 3 plants 1 grew beautifully 2 didn't grow at all. Don't know if it was something I did or the pot. Going to grow something else in them later in the season to see if that changes it and will add a star if same results as the first.

Gave these to a friend with limited space in her home/yard. Looking forward to the results she reaps with potatoes and other root vegetables. Our growing season is short, and without a plot of land it is difficult to grow some vegetables. The ability to easily move root veggies in and out of shelter is appealing. Will update after her attempts!

I bought 5 of these in one shot, and they turned out to be perfect for my intended use. For a fabric pot I'm very impressed with the durability and overall strength. I mean, this is a container designed to hold a product that is heavy and quite often abrasive. They help to keep my soil aerated and my plants are unbelievably happy in their Smart Pots, I can't be more happy with this purchase.

The product works great; they're the originals. Great quality, durable, plants love 'em. And they're not made in China - that's important. BUY AMERICAN.

You can fit two of these under an AeroGarden Grow Light but you'll need a tray underneath to catch water.

I love these pots, they are a lot better than plastic pots. I will NEVER go back to plastic. They allow better air flow, and don't cause a root ball. This is the best way to go if you plan on growing in containers.I bought two of these and it took about 7-8 gallons of dirt to fill two.

It works, good quality

Instead of the usual 5 gallon plastic pots I decided I would try these based on the advice of several people who have used them along with a personal friend who works in a green house. I am very happy I did as they are so much more flexible when it comes to space saving as the pots can be pushed very close together leaving little empty space. Also, they drain very well which allows for more thorough flushing to eliminate the build up of fertilizer salts etc. Plus, during regular watering, the excess water that collects in the trays can be reabsorbed easily as the growing medium dries out. This helps make up for the faster drying rate of these pots. This is a key point to remember if you plan on being away from your garden for an extended period of time. What would have normally last 6-7 days between waterings will only go 5 days maximum with these pots. Of course this is the idea as the roots require oxygen and these pots breath very well.The air-pruning more than made up for the smaller inside volume of the 3 gallon pot compared to the 5 gallon plastic pots. Normally, when I transplant into a larger contianer, I can remove almost a third of the soil from a pot just from the empty, rootless space in the middle of the root mass. Not so with these. The roots were pretty well even all the way across with only a small empty zone exactly in the center of the root mass.I am going to pick up the 5 gallon pots for my tomato garden this spring.HD

It works well for plants that needs air at its roots. Helps prevent overwatering. Material is reusable but it is hard to get rid of excess salt built up from previous plant. A couple of good wash does it. The plants loved it see a difference compared to conventional pots

Does as advertised, the thickness/quality of fabric could be better, if held up to light some thin patches are noticed; doesn’t have any effect on performance. Soil does dry out quicker, just means healthier roots getting oxygen and able to feed/water more!

I unfortunately bought 3 of these pots as some others I was looking at had sold out. I paid £26 for just 3 of these pots and can say now that I have the other pots I originally wanted that these are significantly lower quality and not worth the cost. I paid the same price for 5 simboom pots and these were much better. I can only say that the delivery and packaging of this product was good.
