Not just for trail use!!! A great camera with MANY uses

This is a very cool device, that I think I'll get a lot of use for. We live in a fairly rural area, and will no doubt use it to see what kinds of wildlife is roaming around our property. But I also got it thinking about other uses. Like seeing what kind of animals are raiding our bird feeders (only birds in the pictures and video attached!). Or whether there are mice coming into our house where we think they are. Or seeing what the horses are up to when we're not there. Or which dog is stealing food off the counter!!!The camera is very easy to set up for first use. You should know that it does not come with a micro USB card or the 8 AA batteries it requires, so be sure to have those on hand before you get it. Also be sure to take off the thin film that is on all of the sensors, camera lens, and light. I missed the one on the camera lens, and couldn't figure out why it just kept taking pictures continuously (Duh!). Also the on/setup/off switch is a bit hard to locate (it's inside the camera when you open it up, on the bottom left. The camera has many options, including (1) whether it will take a picture, video, or both when it senses motion, (2) the quality of the video and pictures, (3) the sensitivity of the motion sensors, (4) how long the video should go, (5) the refractory time during which it won't take another video/picture, and many other settings. The picture quality is very good! You have to play with it awhile to get good focus depending on what you want to capture, but it comes with a very cool stand that you can attach permanently with screws, or temporarily, as well as a strap that you could use to attach to a tree or post. The other cool thing about this trail camera is that you can get a preview of what it captures without having to take the card out and bring it to your computer. It has a screen inside when you open the hinge, so you can preview the pictures/videos to see if it's worth looking further, or if you just want to delete all to free up space on the card! This comes in handy in many cases, and especially when you're trying to set it up in the best locations/angles, etc.The build quality seems great (it already fell once off my porch balcony to the porch (about four feet), but was fine. The stand allows you to put it at multiple angles and heights, and is easy to install and adjust. The camera itself is a little bigger than about three playing card boxes stacked together.I haven't tested the night vision aspect, and can't yet comment on how long the battery life is (especially given where I put it first, trained on our very busy bird feeder!), but I'm really looking forward to trying out the many uses I have planned. Who knows, we might even get a picture some day of a bear or even a mountain lion, both of which we are pretty sure come by sometimes, but neither of which we've ever been able to find! All in all, I'm very pleased with this trail camera, and can recommend it highly if you have one of the uses, or if you want to use it for the trail!!!!

REALLY don't like the micro SD card for memory

*by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2020*

I give this product three stars overall because the daytime picture quality is very good, and the night picture quality is a little better than average in my opinion. However, using a micro SD card for memory, and placing the slot to insert it on the bottom of the control panel, and almost all the way to the back, was a really stupid idea. In the dark it's impossible to remove or install the card without a flashlight, and good luck finding that tiny card if you accidentally drop it on the forest floor. If they insist on using a micro SD card, they should at least put the slot on the FRONT OF THE CONTROL PANEL WHERE YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING. This unit also came with ZERO instructions; luckily, I have set up numerous game cameras before, so I had no problem stetting it up, but if this is your first game camera ever, you're probably going to be pretty frustrated getting it going. When I download the pictures on to my computer, if I zoom in at all on the pictures, they get super grainy, so discerning fine details in the pictures is not a realistic option. I recommend buying a different camera; hopefully you can still find one that uses full size SD cards.

So far, I am very impressed with this camera. I've purchased an Action Cam by Campark before and I've been very happy with that. So I was excited to learn that they make several different models of motion sensing Trail Cameras. I purchased the camera because we often have some deer in our backyard, and occasionally some larger animals. I wanted to be able to see how often they come around.Firstly, the camera feels very well built. It has some weight to it even before putting any batteries in. And I thought it was pretty clever that it can run on either 4 or 8 AA batteries, depending on how long you want it to run before have to change them out. It comes with a long strap for securing it to a tree or a pole so that's what I used to mount it.I've seen some of the other daytime photos and videos that people have captured with it and they look great, but what I really wanted to see was how well it performed at night. I was not disappointed. I haven't had any critters just yet so I had to do some simulations to test it out. I tried walking in from the sides at a good distance away (30+ feet) and it started recording as soon as I was within the frame of the wide-angle camera lens. My ultimate test was walking slowly, directly towards the camera, in and around some trees, and in nearly a pitch black environment. As advertised, the camera's motion sensor saw me at about 65 feet out (20m) and started recording. I was wearing black pants and shoes, a black jacket and a grey T-shirt. In my video, you can see me stumbling over some tree stumps as I walk through the dark. The camera captured some pretty clear detail in my clothing and surroundings.Earlier that evening, around dusk, I was doing some testing during some light precipitation and the camera had no trouble discerning my movement from the falling rain. Very impressive.* The settings menus are easy see and to navigate.* The buttons are tactile, so they are easy to find in the dark, but they are also sealed so as to prevent any moisture from getting in.* Once you switch the camera from Setup to Active, it gives you a 15 second countdown to allow you time to close the housing and secure the clips on the side. This is to prevent it from detecting the visual movement of the front cover closing and accidentally triggering it to record.* I like how the camera records the date, time and temperature along with the photos and video.* Another feature that I am excited about but have not yet tried is Time Lapse recording (snapping an image at preset intervals - 10sec, 1min, etc.). This in combination with the Target Time feature should allow it to capture the interval images during the day, but keep it in standby mode during the night.I'm looking forward to seeing all the local wildlife now that I have this camera. I highly recommend it.
