Fantastic Video Light For Music Videos + Promo Videos
The media could not be loaded. Overview I ordered two of these lights to use for model promo videos, and music videos. I thought it would be nice to have such a color range to pick from but not have to use gels which are a pain when working on set. These lights have so far exceeded my expectations.THE GOOD-Fantastic Colors - I was a little skeptical about how bright these lights would be given that they can output the full RGB spectrum but two of these lights had no problem lighting a completely black studio allowing me to shoot at F 2.0 MFT (F4.0 FF) and ISO 200 (native MFT ISO) with just a small fill light to light the face. Dialing in pretty much any color is without a doubt my favorite part of these lights. No more fiddling with gels; I just wish studio strobes could do this.-Material Quality - The case seems to be pretty good quality, I have other GVM lights (panel LED lights) and they have not failed me yet for corporate work and interviews. These lights are definitely on par or better quality than those.-Ease of Use - The menu system is pretty easy to use, I didn't even have to read the manual, I just played with the buttons for a few minutes and was able to dial in any color I wanted including daylight spectrums.-Brightness - All I can say is that two of these are plenty bright for my uses, I will probably get two more to fully evenly light my background but I have no complaints at all about their output. Of course I am not lighting a huge set and would expect these lights to fall apart pretty quickly if that is what you need, but for the typical run and gun videographer; these lights are all you need.THE BAD-These need a huge power brick to power them. I will need to rig up something to support the weight of the power brick and I tried to find a set of lights like these that did not use a power brick but it looks like there is no way around it. I get that moving the power to an external brick makes the head lighter but if all you will mount them on is c stands, the power brick is a headache to deal with.CONCLUSIONHuge time saver and so much more flexible than using gels, 4 of these lights may become my favorite studio lighting setup.

So far so good.
I purchased one other GVM light over a year ago and it still is working and I use it quite often. So when I saw this light I decided to give it a shot. The specs and price were right. I went with the straight daylight version because I couldn't find any info on whether the brightness of light is less with the rgb version. However the other gvm panel I have is only brightest when all diodes are on, so I decided to play it safe and get the daylight for max power. The fresnel and bowens mount combo is great. On my big 63" octobox I can set it to flood to better fill the entire softbox and on small softboxes I can choose to focus the light to spot for a little more punch. The light does warm up, but the fan keeps it from overheating and is quite quiet. It should be good for most audio situations. I saw a review where it said the fan sounded like it had some friction noise as some cpu fans do. I think that was due to poor QC and not representative of all of the lights, because I have to try and hear it when standing right next to it. I have let the light run for about 6 hours at a time with no issues yet. I will be taking it a few shoots soon and will provide an update.--Update. The light has been quite useful and works well with my bowens modifiers. One thing I noticed was that the screw on the power supply fell out and I haven't been able to find a replacement. My only real gripe with the lens is how you have to tighten and untighten a little bolt to remove and install any bowens attachments. It just seems a bit cumbersome and easy to lose compared to other units.

Good light, great support, Bowens mount horrible
I have been using a Godox SL60w for some time now but found that it just wasn't bright enough when using a softbox, so I started looking for a brighter light to use. I found this GVM 150W on sale and picked one up. It arrived with a bent Bowens mount lock down screw. I contacted support and they very quickly send me a replacement front assembly (the entire Bowens mount) and I replaced it. So support was fantastic, but unfortunately the Bowens mount itself is not. While other LED lights with Bowens mount are all very similar with some kind of spring loaded button/tab to lock your modifier on, this GVM uses a lock down thumbscrew and 3 spring clips. The size of the Bowens mount also seems to be a bit smaller than the standard as some of my Bowens mount modifiers will not fit (the 3 "teeth" (blocks?) of the Bowens mount do not fit into the mount on the light because of the spring clips). The included reflector fits fine, as the teeth seem to be a bit shorter than most other Bowen's mounts). The other major issue with this light is the yoke. With a heavy modifier on the front of the light, you really have to crank down the handles and even then it will slowly droop. One of the nice things about this light is the fresnel like lens and the ability to adjust that to get a wider or narrow pattern. With just a reflector installed it works great. With a heavy modifier, it can drift if you have to point the light down, which is my typical setup as a key light (in front, above talent, pointed down at 45 degrees). So again, with a modifier, you may have some issues. So after a few months of struggling with these shortcomings, I went ahead and purchased a Godox VL150 (about $100 more at the time of this review) and use that for my key now and use this GVM as fill and anything that does not need a modifier.
