It's a very simplistic design but costume shops can certainly botch a cape with shoddy construction and poor material choices. This has a pretty lux feel about it, I didn't notice any defects in the stitching and while I would have personally liked it lined with something silky I loved the current price point for what I received. I couldn't have purchased that fabric, a pattern and sewn it myself for the same price so I have no complaints. My toddler loves it, it's the perfect accessory for her halloween costume and she's already enjoying wearing it around the house so depending on how it handles some love in the next few months, I may wind up ordering a second one. My only every so slight critique is that the hook and eye closure is a little small for her to manage but I'm just replacing it with an easier, decorative toggle closure so even that isn't a real problem - just be aware. Also I wouldn't let your child play with this unsupervised - I didn't really notice any safety features and while I seriously doubt that clasp would hold if her cape snagged and started choking her, it is something to be aware of. Best safe than sorry.
