However, it reads more like a fancy to-do list. It starts off by saying, "Read your notes from the past growing season to assess how well the previous year's varieties, rotation, and cover crops performed." If you're just starting out, that's useless to you. Then, it has such general and unhelpful check boxes. Under 'Orchard' it states: "Select and order new trees and pest controls - traps and treatments - if you want them." That's it! Then there's a small place for you to make notes. It has small sections of information, but it's more of an 'at a glance' than anything with real substance. Also, the book falls apart without even trying. If it were actually a useful book, I might be a bit more disappointed. I've literally picked it up 3 times and already the front page is ripped on bottom. I'm not holding it by its binding and flapping it through the air pretending it's a bird! Just regular page turning while the book is sitting on the table. I purchased the The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery and it's a significantly bigger and more in depth covering everything from types of plants, when to plant them, how to plant them, facts like: asparagus seeds are poisonous. Covers soap making, cheese making, seriously, it's almost overwhelming the amount of info that is in it, BUT, it's well laid out into decently digestible sections. It's pricey, but well worth the investment. Avoid this planner, get yourself an excel sheet and put the money towards the Country Living book. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love it.
