Great Well Working Cheap Blacklight
I bought this for a party I had with my friends that had a lot of glow sticks and blacklight toys at. We put many objects up and out that were responsive to this kind of light source. The flashlight I got was well made, and felt firm in its design. Assembly was easy and it worked right away after adding batteries. Anything even remotely blacklight reactive or capable of glowing responded extremely well to this light. Just a few seconds of this beam on a glow in the dark product made it hold a glow for a few minutes. I was playing with a dog with a glowing ball, used the UV light to make it glow, then tossed it into the air for the doing to chase, and the streaking glowing ball was a real treat for the dog and the humans watching.I used the light on and off during a good 10+ hours of this party, and the light never not worked in any way but excellent. It made playing with glow sticks a real treat as it really intensified the color to a brilliant shine. For such a very low price I expected a flimsy design low effect of light, and a short battery life. All of those expectations were very wrong. It works great, and I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it to others, especially if going to any rave like party.

Piece of JUNK, not even worth two cents.
WARNING: You get what you pay for and in this case a useless piece of junk. Seriously, this is a cheapo piece of junk which unfortunately is pretty typical of most stuff made in China. Shame on me, I should have known better since so many reviewers state that IF it works, it works poorly or it doesn't work at all. Unfortunately, I'm in the second category. Bought brand new batteries just for this thing and it totally doesn't work. We tried to reinsert the batteries, tried to turn the battery case upside down, jiggle it, cleaned the contacts and NOTHING! Waste of $7 plus shipping to get it right away. They have no toll free number so I called on my own nickel. Gave them my order number and explained the issues with this thing. They should be sending me a replacement, so I will update upon receiving it.Updated on 10/2/2012: Received a replacement, and returned the first one with a postage paid label. This second one is yet another piece of useless junk. Again I used the brand new batteries and this one doesn't work either. No matter what I did, reinsert in several different ways...tapped on it and nothing. So I'll be calling the company for a second time using my own minutes to pay for the phone call, that plus the shipping that I paid to get this useless junk shipped faster.Called the company three more times, they keep telling me they will mail a return label, never did and it's already after Thanksgiving. At this point I have to accept that the money I spent on this cheapo junk is a lesson learned. You get what you pay for most of the time.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Not quite CSI, but good for lighting up kids glow-in-the-dark toys
For the price (about 5 bucks as of this writing), if you are into flashlights then there is really no reason not to have at least a basic ultraviolet flashlight. This particular flashlight is relatively small and light, takes 3 AAA batteries, and activates with a tail cap switch. The body is sturdy and the switch has continued to function without issue. This is my first and only UV flashlight to date, so I was not really sure what to expect. At this price point, I guess you can't really expect too much. It clearly does have a UV output, which easily causes UV-sensitive objects to floresce. Half the fun is in discovering what these objects are. UV light is also good for highlighting small discrepencies on a surface, e.g. if there is a speck of foreign material against a different background, the UV light often causes it show up quite clearly. There is a noticeable purple bleed from this light, meaning that it isn't putting 100% of its output into the (undetectable to the human eye) UV spectrum. In addition, the light output is simply not very strong. It's for local use only as it doesn't get much range, and works much better when used in near-dark conditions. Again, for the price point, that's OK with me.One nice side benefit of this flashlight is that it is very effective for "charging up" various glow-in-the-dark materials. These materials glow in the dark because they use a phosphorescent compound which absorbs light energy and then re-emits it at a lower intensity over a longer timescale. It turns out that UV light, because it has a higher energy than visible light, is very efficient at inputting energy into phosphorescent compounds. My sons' room has a bunch of stars, planets, and other decals stuck on the walls, and a single pass of this flashlight in the dark causes them all to light up brilliantly.

Bright for its size, but don't drop it!
I purchased this along with a larger blacklight flashlight to help me hunt down all the scorpions crawling around my yard, which it certainly did. For it's size, it was brighter than I expected it would be. It also felt fairly solid. However, one drop on my tile floor and this thing was never the same. It flickered thereafter and didn't last much longer. I don't expect a flashlight to be indestructible, but one drop from 2-3 feet up? I expected a little more durability than that...

Great UV light!
The UV light is amazingly strong! The the light was delivered to my home faster that I thoughtThe only bad thing about this for me is the light itself is sensitive to movement, the cartage (or whatever you want to call it) that holds the batteries seems to wiggle a lot. So the light would flicker or not turn on at all unless I shook it. I sort of fixed it by stuffing some foam on the bottom just so the batteries move around less, it helps stop the flickering, but occasionally I'd have to hit it make the light turn on.But overall, the UV light is bright and is pretty powerful for that size and feels really sturdy.
