How long can you take berberine for?

I am taking it every day for half a year now. I don't know if I should do this, but I haven't heard or felt any negative effect on taking it continuously. I am taking 1500mg every day.

The label says hcl while the back says hci i hear that hcl is for blood sugar & hci is for heart. so which is this product...hcl or hci?
