This neat little unit exactly matches the electrical spec for the power block delivered by Dell with my Inspiron 5570, and the plug is a good fit into the laptop's socket. By building the transformer into the mains plug itself, it makes the plug pretty bulky but eliminates the heavy mains lead and the "brick" hanging halfway down the laptop's lead. You'll need a power outlet that has space in front and above it, about 2cm clearance above the socket, and about 6cm clearance in front - plus some more for the lead which exits via a rigid moulding, so the total depth is about 10cm. This rules it out for using in those under-floor sockets you find in conference rooms and some offices.The 19.5v lead is tough but seems pretty flexible, and is around 8' long - very slightly shorter than the Dell original. More convenient though as it doesn't have the brick half way along, and can't come apart mid-way. Usefully, the plug at the laptop end has an LED that lights when the power is on; gone are the days when I plugged in the mains and only hours later realised that I'd not turned it on at the mains and my laptop hadn't been charging... :-(Originally I was going to keep this as a spare, but I like it more than the Dell original so that old one has gone in the "spares" cupboard.

For starters, the charger is a single-piece item that's slim enough to store alongside my laptop in the same case. (Not so with my original 2-piece Dell brick/plug cable combo). When connected, the CYD cable that connects to my laptop has 2 diodes on the pin that indicate power activity. This is a handsome unit that looks great on any desk and takes up less room that my original Dell charger. The unit would have been perfect if it had included at least one USB port, hence the 4-star rating. Delighted with the purchase overall.Incidentally my laptop is the DELL Inspiron 5509.

Needed a 2nd charger for travel. This one fits the bill perfectly

Liked the long lead and added mobility given. Not entirely convinced that it charges a Dell inspiron 17" that has a 65w charger supply. Thought it was ok but didn't power up with a low battery.
